Not to mention, successful gun defenses aren’t as uncommon as GCAs would have us believe. It’s not a matter of finding a few successful gun defense episodes, but giving the the same level exposure that the mainstream media gives in hyping mass shootings. Part of their dishonesty is in their skewed reporting.

@SiNNiK yeah, I , too , noticed that there was little reaction from the crowd until the gun came out. I guess seeing an old white guy beat was ok but the prospect of a couple of hoods receiving justice was not.

Sure, and if he seriously hurt the teens by any means, he’d been vilified by one of several narratives. As it was, he was restrained, stopped the attack, and no one was seriously injured. But,mGCAs will be looking for any angle to make political capital... they rarely miss the opportunity for the spin.

Yep, and no one moved to assist. It’s life in the liberal world.

Same down here, a Lee County Deputy was being beaten after a traffic stop and everyone, other one person who shot the attacker and killed him, literally everyone else stood around recording the beating on their cell phones while stating OMG, OMG, OMG, he just shot the guy (the person who assisted the deputy and killed the attacker).

It's a sick, very sick, society when folks whip out a cell phone to get their day of fame on the evening news by being credited, not paid, for their video, versus coming to the aid of a law enforcement officer, an officer they have no problem with calling 911, when they need his assistance.

I learned a long time ago, when certain emergencies, like accidents with injuries, or attacks occurs, many seemed stunned, unsure what to do, and assume someone else will handle things. I saw it when I had my pub, see it still and read of it in situations even where women were subjected to gang rape in public. These days, when you are confronted with such situation, you can’t, as many liberals profess, count on anyone to assist. The word herd is often used to characterize the behavior of liberals and I situations like Chicago, I am reminded of videos of migrating herds of Wildebeasts crossing crock infested river where the herd mills about when one of their own is snatched by a crock.... a sacrifice for the herd... the same behavior liberals advocate for all rather than arm themselves with the ability to protect others.

The above is a statement made on the part of one who possesses no actual real world experience.

Was the Port Arthur incident a daily occurrence in the nation of Australia? Or was it an extremely rare event?

The NRA does not have the ability to influence foreign elections with its message. Unless there is a significant portion of a nation that is actually open to the message of the NRA, and willing to elect a politician who supports the message of the NRA, the message goes nowhere and is simply ignored. The only way the NRA could actually influence foreign elections, would be if the populations did not actually want the implemented firearm-related restrictions in the first place.

Except for the fact that the man with a gun was wearing a duty belt. Meaning he's most likely security or law enforcement. As @Reality stated, he was security for McDonald's.

It's not rare when at the lowest, there are 500,000 case of people successfully defending themselves with a firearm every year. If that's your definition of "rare", then car accident a gun homicides are even rarer.

    Re:
"Rare"....if your life is saved only once because you were armed, it doesn't matter how rare it is.

Yes, I'm one of the many Americans who is alive today only because I was armed and, no, I didn't report the incident

How about "Real men" with cancer, heart disease, bad knees, 2 artificial hip replacements, a bad back and other old wounds & injuries that come from decades of doing "Real man" stuff?

As for your link, It doesn't dispute the number I quoted. It only stated that the number is disputed of whether it's in the hundreds of thousands (as I stated) or in the millions. Not only that, but your stat about guns being only used defensively less than 1% only takes into account those that are reported.
you are aware of a new thing called forensics, right?

Never try to confuse an anti-gunner with facts, they only retort with a pre-programmed narrative.

Then too. Anyone who has grown that old has a lot of experience in solving conflict situations the nonviolent way. A firearm aimed at teenagers is attempted murder.

Well... that would explain how a law abiding citizen in Chicago had a firearm.

I agree that many conflicts can be either avoided or defused just by your posture, facial expression, eye contact & tone of voice.

I used to work as a Psychiatric Case Worker on an Emergency Psychiatric Hospital for a large inner-city.
Many of our patients were too violent or severely mentally ill for the privately owned facilities so I found several ways to defuse conflicts without having to resort to physical force which, of course, is the last resort.

Unfortunately, there were several times when an especially violent patient would attack either another patient, staff member or me for no reason & I would have to restrain the patient without hurting them so they could be sedated. Fortunately, I was able to restrain even larger patients without hurting them and only got stabbed once in the 10 years I had that job.

Life out in the street is pretty much the same thing. Most all of the time one can avoid trouble just by where you go and how you act.

I had extensive firearm experience before I had even more extensive, advanced firearm training in the military & have had to live in some rough neighborhoods.

Even though I have a license to carry a firearm, I rarely do but still, there have been 3 times when I had to deploy (draw & point) but not fire my firearm after I had tried everything else.

Each of the 3 instances was different but in all of them the would-be attacker(s) were armed & seemed determined to attack me & in one case, my female neighbors.

Would you really consider drawing & pointing a firearm as a last resort "attempted murder" if you're simply trying to save your life or the life of another person?

You're right. We can't generalize that. It can happen that in rare situations you meet a real psychopath. In this case you must shoot at him to save your live. Hope he survives.

    Riiiight.

What he did was goad them into attacking him so he could pull a gun he didn't use.
