Not sure the sentence matched the crime. Point is that although he did not carry out the threat he has long BEEN a threat and I have little doubt will continue to be one.

    Ye Gods NAPALM! ((((((((((((Shudder))))))))))

He had been on a watch list for some years apparently

so, too harsh, given he apparently did not participate in Jan 6, too lenient given he had napalm - what do people think?

Basically a terrorist plot by the individual.

People who actually burned down buildings got off easier. We need some consistency in sentencing.

    Been there struggled with that

Hmmm no arson cases and most were minor such as throwing rocks - dismissed for lack of evidence. The serious cases had to do with reckless driving and I agree the sentencing was pretty light

But this is essentially a whataboutism, and I get it - aggrievement is almost a right wing staple however we are talking THIS case

This is someone who seems in dire need of psychiatric assistance BEFORE he lets off a napalm bomb in a building

Let him off, all of those items should be legal to possess.

The BLM/ANTIFA rioting will kick off soon. Its only a matter of when. I'm also wondering if we'll see some new trans 'rights' terrorist group pop up. Regardless the difference between the hundreds of thousands of left-wing terrorists and the handful of people who trespassed on 6-Jan is obvious: some people just wont be prosecuted.

Other than whataboutisms do you have any thoughts about what he was trying to do and why?

You asked for a link, you were given one, and then claim it's a whataboutism? That's impressive. You should admit your mistake here.

And are you really going to make the argument/claim that the sentencing for those arrested in the months long BLM riots were equivalent to this?

Wanted to see if he could validate the claim and he couldn’t

shrugs - still was a whataboutism even if I did make the “mistake” of humouring him

But you could fulfil the same challenge - post a link showing where someone committing a similar crime got a lesser punishment

Minimizing an angry mob beating the hell out of hundreds of Capitol police officers doesn't change the fact that it was way more than "trespassing".

And, you're correct. "Some" people just won't be prosecuted. White people always have the privilege even when they are also criminals.

There still are some ethical issues with punishing people for things we think they would have committed, but did not actually commit.

It is true that there is attempted murder, but that usually involves a person setting into motion things that are then outside their control. When the murder does not happen, it is because of how other things unfolded, not what decision that person made.
An example of this would be if someone rolls down a huge boulder at someone from above a cliff, but then that boulder unexpectedly bounces away off in another direction. Or if a woman puts poison into a man's drink, but then he accidentally spills it over and does not drink it.
A person who plots to shoot someone with a gun but then does not actually pull the trigger at the critical moment has not actually committed "attempted murder".

    No, no! No! MJ!

Don’t you know it was the poor white man who is being victimised here? I mean this guy who had a truck full of ammunition and bombs and a history of threats was purely innocent as the driven snow!! / sarcasm

To be honest with you I would not care if this guy were green with purple spots.

it is not and should not be about race but perception of threat

I can't help but feel if this individual was Muslim, the book would have been thrown at him.

Since he wasn't and supports the same ideology far right, showing up with ammunition and molotov cocktails during a government session is just free speech.

Lol…no. Transporting gasoline in glass bottles is illegal, but your weak attempt at distraction is noted.

I'm sure when the story comes out it will be some black and/or brown people planted all that stuff in his vehicle and he wasn't aware it was in there and he never uses the van for any purpose other than taking food to the homeless and visiting people in hospitals when he isn't serving in Sunday School. /sarc.
I don't either but that's not how they roll here in the US. The criminals at/in/around or connected to the Capitol riot have been elevated above the law abiding police officers they mob attacked. That's unconsciousable.
Those are intertwined here. Go back and look at the Capitol riot. Those police officers didn't perceive any threats until it was too late.
