"A Texas man is speaking out after he dismissed COVID-19, contracted it, and hosted a gathering that likely caused it to spread throughout his close and extended family, leaving two dead.

Tony Green said he hosted a small at-home gathering the weekend of June 12 for himself and five members of his family, thinking that the worst of the pandemic was over.

“I used to call it the ‘scamdemic.’ I thought it was an overblown media hoax. I made fun of people for wearing masks,” he told The Washington Post.

But by Sunday morning, Green said, he started to feel off. Then his partner did. And his parents. And his father-in-law.

Green said his symptoms just kept getting worse and worse before he was eventually hospitalized.

“I stayed in the hospital for three days, trying to get my mind around it. It was guilt, embarrassment, shame. I thought: ‘OK. Maybe now I’ve paid for my mistake.’ But it kept getting worse,” he said.

The virus kept spreading, leading to a total of 14 infections in his family. Some got really sick. Others didn’t.

Green’s 52-year-old father-in-law, whom he called his “best friend,” and his father-in-law’s mother both died."

Things change when it gets personal. Will that be how the Trump fans on this board will feel?

No, because I treat it as serious and take every precaution necessary outside of my limited family members I choose to spend time with. I am up front and honest about the risk my family is consenting to when they visit.

If all involved want to take risks, they have to accept that there are consequences of doing so. I won't take on the moral responsibility of their choices nor judge them for choosing to take those risks.

What message do you think Trump is sending with his behaviour?

That it isn't necessary to wear a mask when you are 20+ feet away from people... I don't know, I don't see him outside of the speeches.

In any case, I don't view Trump or celebrities as 'role models' for society. I rely on professionals, families, and societal structures to be the examples in specific areas and mentors in their expertise.

    You don’t need one

all you have to do is look at what he is doing and listen to what he is saying

Does his behaviour and language align with the message from scientists?

The first paragraph answers your question directly before I move to pointing out that I don't share your perspective on the role of presidents.

    No it didn’t

you made a general comment about mask wearing, and even IF true (and it isn’t 100% effective) the public high profile figures should be modelling good or desirable behaviour

Do you think Donald Trump is modelling desirable behaviour?

Trump is patient zero with that disease

it's appropriate the disease is named after Trump, he has earned it

Why, to test for Covid, do we need a q-tip touching the back of our skull to see if we have a virus that can can/does infect people several feet away?

The Socratic Method is where you ask questions intended to let a person discover the truth from their own work on the problem.

Thing of it is, doesn't work on the brainwashed, and the Cult has been brainwashed repeatedly. They are gone.
