I believe this to be true in your mind, but it does not go beyond there. There are Billions of life forms and even more we do not know of, but your version of this "God" entity does not seem to be amongst them.

Hmmm. Is it because god made man in is own image? Could that be it? Or is it because christ quoted scripture which said we could all be sons of God? Thing is, if reality is such that god breathed his essence into man, when he created man, then claiming to have some of god within you, might not make you god, but it sure gives man the spirit of god that can live within man. You will never know God if you choose not to. So its not a question of if God is real or not, its about the fact that you don't want Him to be real. That scares you for some reason.

Many humans project themselves onto an imaginary construct they call God. You do it all the time. An infantile response. You shift the burden of proof/persuasion and you argue that because humans can't create carbon-based life or explain how the big bang originated therefore your particular sky fairy exists. Yes, quite infantile. Empty, shallow and myopic as well.
So if I'm not mistaken, you believe that GOD is a myth. Granted, that's your opinion. So do you believe that any past relative you had who believed upon GOD actually wasted their life doing so?
Not likely. Being indoctrinated as a child and being exposed to related peer pressure to believe particular religious dogma is unfortunate but hardly qualifies alone as wasting one's life. The harm caused is not self-induced, at least for the most part. The lack of development of critical thinking skills, suppression of intellectual honesty and curiosity and emotional addiction to fantasy, common results of religious indoctrination, are sad to witness and only pity can be given to some of those so seriously infected that they exhibit delusional behavior. Of the millions of direct genetic ancestors in my past, I have only known six (two parents and four grandparents). All were indoctrinated as children with various Christian viral strains, although the peer pressure to maintain belief in the related religious dogma was minor, as best I can remember. None were religious nutters. Three, maybe four, deconverted and rejected the indoctrination and peer pressure. I learned more from them in secular settings than in religious settings in any event, and the meaningful religious lessons, as I discovered later, were always available from numerous non-religious sources. All of these ancestors did many things in their lives, most of which had nothing to do with religion. In these minor anecdotal experiences I never considered any of them as wasting their lives.
So, they are delusional and fantastical? Fairy bird believers; hugging trees, laying naked on the grass with strangers...etc.. But wise enough to have lived through the difficult times while raising their children, you included? Would they haved fared better off if they were more self absorbed and less Godly? Do you have children you need to be responsible for? Would you allow your child to come home from school to a home filled with meth smoke and friends and beer bottles? Or a group involved in ouija board games or a group of fortune card readers or palm readers or satanist symbol cladding 'friends'? Don't you think your child would view The Holy Bible 'book' on the counter as a protecting and way of escape opportunity?
