Frankly Im surprised the australian left isn't screaming racism at voter ID laws. If I had known that was just a leftist thing here in the US, I certainly would've commented differently.

    Our system is different

You HAVE to register to vote or you get fined and then you have to vote or you get fined. Does not mean you actually have to fill in the voter card. Just show up and get your name crossed off

Look we are free NOT to vote and the government is free to fine our arses for not voting. As for the Australian constitution we do have one somewhere and if there is ever a real problem we might go and look at it but until then.........

Any power not given by the constitution is unconstitutional.

No, that is not an explanation it is simply a copout. To be unconstitutional it has to oppose the constitution. Saying that it is not mentioned so it opposes is garbage and deceptive.

Don't matter. The federal govern.ent could never keep track of this. Too complicated. Without requiring an I.D. How would they know if x person didn't vote. Besides, the Dems want to let illegals vote.

Maybe next election I will vote in the two Countries I pay taxes to. Just to see if I can. Or pay non-profits citizens to vote for Republicans. Who would I is when no I. d is needed.

    Stupid people

    Maaate

You have no idea how simple our system is:p

When you rock up they put a biro mark against you name and ask if you have already voted that day. Correlation of the electoral rolls happen later

Then you put a mark on the papers with the pencil provided, although you COULD use your own pen. And at the end of the day the votes are counted. Each polling place has scrutineers. People from each party who have the job of ensuring the vote is correct
