The Democrats have said time and time agan they want to raise taxes on the most wealthy Americans in our society, but if they and the Republicans would provide congressional oversight of many wasteful government programs, this action would not be necessary.

Almost every aspect of government these days is significantly affected by waste, fraud and abuse. And the people in Washington who represent us are most inclined to look the other direction and do absolutely nothing about it!

Even the federally supported program that helps feed children of needy families is not immune from corruption. Medicare is particularly prone to fraud and abuse by unscrupulous doctors and patients who are always available and woefully willing to "game" the system.

If we would clean up these programs, we could save billions and billions of federal dollars without having to raise taxes on anyone!

James, I generally do not agree with most of your view points but I do agree with this one.

I for one cannot get past the idea that by giving the Upper Elite, or the Aristocracy as it was known in the old days, the authority or duty of redistributing a Countries wealth and power. The idea that they will gladly decide to share it with us peasants in the form of higher wages or other benefits is absurd.

    My reasoning...

Power seekers do not like to share power, they consolidate it which left unchecked would inevitably lead to a permanent class system similar to what happened to Europe after the fall of Rome after its strong central government collapsed. The problem is human nature, everyone looks out for their themselves first, family second, friends third and the rest get the scraps. Only friends and family will get the good paying jobs, education and status.

Give enough freedom for power seekers and money lovers to do there thing to drive the economy, but not to much (in the form of regulations and taxes) to keep them from becoming to powerful and thus preserving the balance of power between the Upper Elite and the Commons. This is vital at keeping an educated society stable by allowing a common man to get an education and maybe becoming rich or successful himself if he so desires. (makes you wonder who is the driving force behind abolishing public education and why)

But this is off point, I was just letting you know where I stand as we have tangled before and I never stated where I was politically. To your point of Corruption. Yes, we need to clean up. Everywhere there is massive leakage and it sickens me. So I do agree that we need to do something there.

----When I was 18. I remember this guy I knew (neighbor) asked me for a ride. I took him to the social services department. He came out later with money and food stamps. Later he took the food stamps to a house where he sold them for 10% of their value. He then took all the money he gathered and bought a big ball of crack. From the looks of the types of people I saw at the department, there were many there doing the same thing.I remember this well and still pisses me off. He (we) even grew up in a upper middle class white neighborhood, his parents were rich.

These are the stories people hear which ruins it for everyone else that use these programs the way they were designed. Fix them, don't eliminate them

I agree. However, when it comes to the most corruption in government in the USA it is at State level. State Governments are responsible for the Public schools, not the Feds. Americians pay state taxes in all shapes and forms. The States have no accountability over the powerfull Government Empolyee Unions (AKA Public Unions). As a result,, Americans are getting screwed over by the public school system and State Universities that eats over 65% of your State's tax money. Thaat is over 65% of your tax money.

Small States have Department of Education system that run like family buisnesses, in which families and close relatives hold the top administrative positions. As a result it breeds corruption. Reduces wistle blowing, and is a strong arm politics that get what they want in corrupt practices. Most, Taxpayer funded schools and universites in the USA have their own policies, and their own law enforcement which coverup crimes, shift around pedophiles, and are not accountable to the taxpayer or the government that is responsible for oversight of the tax money the schools eat every year.

Just check you State auditor. The Schools system is so big, they can't account for all the tax money it consumes each year. Go ahead check if they can even cook the books. Some States in the USA confess to not accounting for the tax money consumed by the DOE (schools and universities.

Federal government has it's own corruption on a different level. One that is owned by the corporations that own the politicians. Their corruption goes beyond belief. Anyone with half a brain could see what the Boooosh administration did with government contracts, and special appointments to the supreme court, FDA, DOE, EPA, US Treasury, Finance committee, etc. These appointments are all liked to corporations, and most were lobbiest or corporate lawyers who work for banks and other industries like agriculture, and weapons building industry, as well as oil and energy insiders.

Same goes on in your State. And it depends on the major industry/market of your state. For example, CT, UT, and AZ have large industries of banking, insurance, investment banking and medical insurance. States like AL, MI, LA, TN have industries of auto manufacturing. States like ND, ID, MN, MO, KN, GA, SC, TN, have a few corporate food industries. States like NV have gaming and mining. So you can bet your investment that the corporations of these industries have the politician of their respective state in their pockets.

How do they control all this power? Well, corporations also, pay big fat money to the broadcast media for ads to push their drugs, fast food, and everything they want to sell. Broadcast media are the whores for the corporations, and will do the dirty work by slamming a politician who is not in line with the corporations' ideas.

As long as the public schools eat up the States budgets using Union power. They will continue to use the dumb poster child, or the immigrant, or the claim of overcrowded schools, and need for more teachers, or the icrease of autism, or the need for interventions and testings and bla bla bla, to succker stupid fools who buy into the propaganda that; there is always an excuse for dropout factories, and no real solution other than throwing more money more money at it and it will go away.

So yea, there is corruption at all levels, but the one that will bring down the USA is the public education system and State funded universities. If you think the Fed GOV is the only one in debt, you are sadly mistaken. Almost every State in the USA is in major Debt Crisis (That is what Kevin Trudeu does not want you to know about). Each State in the USA has billions of dollars in Municipal Bonds out to all the major investment banekrs and corporate investmen companies here and around the world. As a whole, it is more than the national debt.

America and it's States are running on debt like a poker machine addict who can't stop drinking. You know the type. They live beyond their means, buy crap they don't need, and borrow money they cant pay back. These fools have no clue how much money they owe, and keep borrowing untill they file bankrupcy, or the musle comes in and breaks their knees.

    you are correct, Albert.

When America eventually falls the first group to go will be the corrupt public employee labor unions!
