Fine. Study included in CDC recommendation reading list.

    https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/22476275/

From the results: Mean arrestance of bioaerosols by the surgical masks ranged from 48% to 68% when the masks were challenged with endospores and from 66% to 76% when they were challenged with vegetative cells. When the arrestance of endospores was evaluated, statistical differences were observed between some pairs, though not all, of the models evaluated. There were no statistically significant differences in arrestance observed between models of surgical masks challenged with vegetative cells.

So, it's better than nothing, but not remotely universal in efficacy. Which, even the CDC acknowledges. Why can't you? Oh, and this is the "how effective is the mask of another protecting you, and these were the best masks tested in the study. This is why more sophisticated PPE is required in hospitals, and why you shouldn't expect that there is anything but a slight reduction in your risk in pubic even where everyone is masked. Frankly, this is the best data out there. For folks to run this as the end all cure all is ludicrous.

Read the conclusion. It says that masks are the recommended etiquette to limit transmission.

    Boy did you fail.

    that was a SAD attempt

Read the summary. While, yes, they do recommend it, the findings are terrifying. Detail much? Sure doesn't look like it.

Clearly you haven't been to a Sturgis rally :) Other then riding/site seeing around on a bike and I doubt very much that wearing a mask will be mandatory for that, most of the other events will be held on private property and ALWAYS policed by private security staff and not local or state police ;)

BTW 250K is way to low! Half a million would be more realistic!

One of my fondest memories was driving on I90 in SD and seeing a guy pulling a trailer with his Harley in the back, behind his convertible Rolls Royce..... The crowd there is unbelievable....

News reports are that mask-wearing Mike DeWine of Ohio has tested positive.

If the test is accurate, how did Mike's mask not protect him?

Mask do not protect YOU so much as they protect others.

Sure, if a medical mask is likely 60% effective at stopping particulates, imagine the efficacy of a bandana.... maybe 5%? But sure, cling to hope or faith here. It's like suddenly you've decided to deny science altogether.

That's what I figure. I've been wearing a bandana around my neck every day. Cuter, cooler and more convenient that those "medical" virus-accumulating masks. A bandana probably doesn't protect, but they're easy to wash out in the sink and hang dry every day.

I heard Gohmert on Hannity's radio show while driving home from work Wednesday. He said he may be "cleared" and free of the virus by this weekend. He's feeling well.

Sweet. $6's a piece. of box of 20 for $50. Available for shipping immediately. Remember, only use once for best results. No wonder 3M stock is soaring... You a stockholder?

Back in March, I was wearing the same mask for days or weeks and leaving it on the passenger seat in the car so I wouldn't forget it. Gross! Switched to bandanas at the end of May.

$50/month hurts poor people and minorities the most (and you know they probably aren't disposing of them after one wear). The government locks them out of jobs then mandates an expensive product. Elected Democrats; out to harm the poor as usual.

I use 3 ply masks very similar to what surgeons use (clearly not a bandana)- $15 for 50

    Next excuse?

I was making them with a Scott shop towel and rubber bands. Now I wear a breathable bandana. Much more airy and less nasty. No excuse. :)
