I won't mind waiting until after the election.

I truly believe that there was no vote on Garland because Scalia's death was suspicious.

Well, we know the Senate will wait until after the inauguration to fill the position. After all, McConnell made it clear in 2016 that a Supreme Court vacancy must not be filled in a Presidential election year, and if Trump tried to put forth a candidate, McConnell would obviously not allow a vote because to allow a vote before 2021 would make McConnell a lying hypocrite and he obviously isn't that. Right?

Not what he said. Doesn’t matter anyway. President Trump is elected for 4 complete years until January 20th. Also, we know this election will be challenged in the courts all the way up to the Supreme Court. A 4-4 Court would be disastrous trying to make the final decision. A 9th judge is mandatory.

Would it not be grand if President Trump announces his nominee and ask the Senate to vote after the elections but ONLY if Biden also announces his nominee? Trump's Conservative pic vs. sleepy Joe Liberal pic - that be interesting.

And Biden shakes off his dementia and becomes normal again.

    Both scenarios are unlikely.

Well, now that the Republicans have set the rule, they and their supporters can expect the same when they are in the minority.

    No balance, no mercy.

McConnell was talking about a nomination in an election year by a president would would not be in office after the election. But don't let reality get in your way. If Trump nominates someone to replace Ginsburg there will be a major brouhaha of a fight alright but it won't be historic. It'll just be a rerun of Kavanaugh. Now that I think of it, if Trump does anything there will be a major brouhaha of a fight by the Democrats. Maybe Pelosi will conclude that such a nomination is an impeachable offense. "Yeah, that's the ticket!"

Reality is Trump, for example, could nominate mother theresa and the democrats would still make up lies about her and fight tooth and nail against her. Trump getting another chance at appointing a SCJ this close to the election is already pushing the libs over the edge of peak crazy.

You didn't have to tell me that. Politics is all about fighting. It is no longer about the common good.

We told leftists that resorting to the Nuclear Option years ago would return to haunt them and leftists called us all sorts of names. Now leftists want us to INDULGE the stupid decision making processes of Dem Party politicians as if we were parents indulging spoiled children?

I just don't see a difference? The left have no respect for, as they say "Turtleman" among other derogatory handles, so what will change? Silly ass name calling will somehow stop? Hell with it, if you're gonna be labeled all that he is currently called, then he might as well LIVE UP TO THE REPUTATION, right ;)

There is a difference between a first term presidential nomination and a second term lame duck nomination.

Let's stop pretending these are the same.
