    Rs have no dilemma, they have complete control of this vacancy. There is nothing Ds can do to stop them and since they have no leverage they have no influence on the selection.

    The only people Trump has to satisfy are 53 Rs.

    Actually only 51 Rs

    There is no Constitutional requirement that McConnell even has to hold hearings.

    Trump can nominate Ann Coulter on Monday and McConnell can hold a vote on Tuesday and she can be sworn into office on Wednesday.

    This is what I expect from the Entertainer-in-Chief: DRAMA!

    That could backfire. The middle won't appreciate the hypocrisy, which will easily stay fresh in memory for six weeks. Any Republican Senator in a tight race could be in trouble.

    It might, but I doubt it. I think folks in the middle are more concerned about their own lives and interests and will vote accordingly.
