That's the problem. Changing what "THEY ALWAYS DO" IS what makes sense.

    Well then...MISSION ACCOMPLISHED?

He was not driving, he was sleeping.

Do you really think "Drunk Sleeping" is a death penalty offense?

    Geez!

Not a single fact in your link is relevant. Apples and elephants.

That you think they are is hilarious.

How do you think he got there?

    How?

Please provide ANYTHING beyond your supposition as to how he got there.

HOW is not an issue. He was sleeping. Unconscious. THAT is where this begins. Nothing that happened before is relevant.

    It occurs to me...

    The police have his name.
    The police have his address.
The police have his effin car!

    He's running away.

How is he a threat anymore?

Well I think the calculation would go like this: The police chief knows that the mayor is not going to support her or the department, in fact just the opposite, no matter how much of a "good shooting" this was. So this is going to lead to a roasting and demonization by the media, and then firing, so the mayor can appoint a black police chief.

Why not just resign on your own terms rather than wait to be fired?

I'm really curious, if you were the cop, how would you have handled it differently?

He obviously drove there drunk unless you have some other explanation of how he ended up in the drivers seat asleep in a drive through. It is a crime to drive while intoxicated. The fact that he was not actually moving when the police arrived does not change that fact that he was driving intoxicated.

    Jesus Effin CHRIST!

Read the EFFIN thread. I have described how it should be handled several times.

    That is SUPPOSITION.

Did you see him drive there?
Can you produce a single witness that saw him drive there?

Do you actually understand what "supposition" means?

He could have provided that defense at a trial. However, he elected to resist arrest.
Do you understand that has nothing to do with the issue?

A Taser is not a deadly weapon. Cops and lawyers make that point all the time and cops USE it because it is "less than lethal".

There seems to be a mentality that if you do ANYTHING wrong (especially if you are a black man) a switch is flipped and you can be killed.

WRONG. That cop could have just let the man go...filed a report and let the system take it from there. There was NO need to shoot a fleeing unarmed man in the back

Yes, that was discussed, it's no cakewalk, and were not talking a couple of weekend classes, but it should become part of the integral training, even if bbn it's just a couple takedowns, the basics. Generally the suspect isnt striking as much as trying to escape and not saying it's the answer, but it's one answer.

It was a good angle and in the video from atlanta it might have been helpful. It was only a 5 minute segment in a 3 hour broadcast but for me it was a bit of a light bulb moment. Anything that can make a measurable difference should be considered a worthy consideration.

Anyway, just one idea among many.

You attempt to introduce "facts" that are neither demonstrably true nor relevant then attempt to defend this bit of silliness by claiming that pointing out the irrelevance of your claims is irrelevant?

No wonder you people can't avoid stepping in your rhetorical cow patties.

So in your mind anyone who drives drunk should be shot on sight?

If you had another option, would you allow someone to kill or maim you because he was drunk and irrational?

He could have gone into court and claimed aliens placed him and his car in that line and made him go to sleep with a blood alcohol in excess of that which would have allowed him to drive legally. I am sure that are twelve jurors somewhere on the face of this earth who would have believed him.
That is enough. Stop. Personal accusations have no place in this discussion..

    Sarcasm coming....
Oh, i like this idea even better, let's give the suspect the opportunity to declare "resist "

So that way when the cop says put your hands behind your back the suspect can just State "no sir I resist" and then they say oh "dammit man, ok, you are free to go, kindly leave your name and a good address on this notecard, cuz we will be back" "have a great day sir!"
