They're happier because they smile more in photos published to the internet and use more happy emoticons If you read the NYT and WaPo articles, they don't use the study to suggest that liberals are underreporting their happiness. It inspires them to hope through hostility, they argue that conservatives may be over-reporting their happiness because they didn't smile as much in photos put up on the internet. This is actually one of the main reasons why I quit identifying as a liberal. The mindset of these articles is that happiness is a material possession. It suggests that you can increase your happiness by smiling more on social media or by typing : followed by ). Or that you can take happiness away from your enemies by insisting to them that they are overstating their own happiness because they didn't smile as much. Anyone who has been both truly happy and truly unhappy knows that how much you smile says little if anything about how happy you really are. I wonder if the communications majors in WaPo and NYT have ever been truly happy when I see them trying to use a graph of smiles as a weapon in argument.

Wow... When can we get a study proving liberals are just plain less intelligent, less capable to critical thought, and less able to come to common sense conclusions based on observations of the ubiquitous.
