Former Sen. Max Cleland (D-GA), lost both legs and one arm serving in Vietnam. He lost reelection when Republican Chickenhawks, led by former Christian Coalition leader Ralph Reed, smeared his record and tried to claim that he was unpatriotic.

Contrary to popular belief there were, and still are, liberal Republicans. I only recently, (well, 2 years ago), changed my affiliation to Democrat from lifelong Republican and that was only because I thought it important to vote in their Primary.

Nixon is referred to by many as one the Great Liberal Republicans.

The difference between Democrats and Republicans is SUPPOSED to be that the former believes in grassroots movements to effect government and the other looks more to the legislature as an independent body, and yes, they do tend to shade into each other rather quickly, they're supposed to, the Founding Fathers warned against Parties.

 

I'm typically more disappointed at Republicans for being such failures at opposing democrats, who, are at least out of the closet with their hatred toward working men like me and fight tooth and nail for their brainwashed constituents.

Democrats are far better at PR, and far better at continuing to fight even when the majority of the states have told them to pound sand in nearly all elections.

This is why Trump is a good thing. He's hated by both R's and D's who at the end of the day, share many circle fests together in DC.

I'm all for giving the establishment my middle finger. And that certainly includes the news media.
