I miss a lot of folks who've come and gone over the past 14 years, but I think Flounder's absence has been felt the most.

    RIP, buddy :floating:

I miss Happy Fun Dude. Zosiasmom, Brewskier, Mandrake, Hummingbird, Gatewood, and Jonsa, just off the top of my head.

Y'know, I strongly disagreed with him about almost everything but I miss Jack Napier.

    Whatever happened to Dutch?

You have to wonder where they all go or maybe they just quit posting.

I hope I’m wrong but I’m suspicious Covid may have got some. I know the age/health demographic and geographic location of a couple correlate with very high Covid death rates.

Then we won’t be seeing them for quite some time! LOL

We have a 1000 gallon gasoline tank at the home place. The morning after the Ukraine invasion my supplier filled it before raising his prices (good dude). I paid for it that day instead of making him carry the bill for 30 days as a thank you.

Unfortunately it’s the time of year we use a lot of gasoline to haul cows and calves to pasture so it’s going fast. I’m dreading filling or part filling the tank at these prices! But I guess I’m still operating on “cheap” gas—for a while yet!

Here is hoping you can use the cheap gas till prices drop. We can only hope prices are like birds they can only go so high before they have to come back down.

Pre Covid: Regardless of whether we looked at urban or rural areas, people living in areas with Republican political preferences were more likely to die prematurely than those in areas with Democratic political preferences. There was no single cause of death driving this lethal wedge: The death rate due to all 10 of the most common causes of death has widened between Republican and Democratic areas.
    https://www.statnews.com/2022/06/07/us-death-rates-politicization-public-health/

“We wanted to see whether the political affiliation had an association with death rates in the U.S.,” said corresponding author Dr. Haider Warraich, associate physician at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and assistant professor at Harvard Medical School. “Over these two decades, the mortality gap between Republican and Democratic counties has really widened quite considerably.” Mortality rates in Democratic counties dropped from 850 deaths per 100,000 people to 664, but in Republican counties, mortality rates declined from 867 to 771. The mortality gap widened across leading causes of death in the U.S. including heart disease, cancer, drug overdoses and suicide. Democratic counties also saw greater reductions in deaths from chronic lower respiratory tract diseases, diabetes, influenza and pneumonia, and kidney disease. (Rodriguez, 6/7)

    And then came Covid

Republican US counties saw more COVID-19 deaths
Majority-Republican counties experienced 73 more COVID-19 deaths per 100,000 people than their Democratic counterparts, suggests an observational study today in Health Affairs.

A team led by University of Maryland researchers analyzed COVID-19 death and vaccination data and 2020 presidential election returns from 3,109 US counties from Jan 1, 2020, to Oct 31, 2021. The researchers hypothesized that partisan differences in attitudes toward the pandemic and compliance with local mask, physical distancing, and vaccine policies would lead to differences in death rates...

    Waltky.

I knew him on one and maybe two other forums.
I don't believe he was in the greatest of health and he has not made an appearance here in over 2 years. Or anywhere else that I am aware of.

    I'm afraid he has passed.

    Anyone remember his humor?

    " Uncle Ferd say's she a honey"

I wish a certain someone could stop polluting this thread with their agenda...
