Bluntly put, Merkel said: "No more US or UK, it's over for us." She said that Europe must take its fate into it's own hands, and so I say good luck Merkel, you destroyed it as it is with your globalist, liberal pagan values... not to mention your hard handed German 'austerity' as well.

Will Merkel be able to assert Germany's power over the EU without the US? I don't think so. But who cares? Germany's prosperity has been at a cost to it's other members.
The more nations, the richer Germany becomes. ... which is probably why it keeps trying to draw in new members. And oh how easily those countries are fooled. I remember thinking how foolish Ukraine was, and didn't they realize the EU is dying. Well I guess they didn't.

Merkel, who has single-handedly destroyed most of the European Union in favor of globalist, neo-liberal values, knows full well that without US support Germany will never be able to assert its power over the rest of the EU.

Speaking at a CDU election rally in Munich, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that Europe “must take its fate into its own hands.”

    Pagan?

What a bizarre choice of 'insults'.

It's not an insult. It's a common term. Their values are considered neo paganism.

To add to this, have you seen the ceremony at the opening of the Gotthard Tunnel in Switzerland? The horned pagan god Baphomet was very prominent. Merkel was there as were many of the other European leaders.

Here's are some scenes and a good explanation of what they represent.

Nigel Farage has been trying to pull Britain out of the EU for about 15 years. He said the only country that has gained from it is Germany...

Anyway Merkel only has herself to blame. She turned her back on Vladimir Putin when he wanted to create a unified trade route extending from Barcelona to Vladivostok, but she preferred the Obama/Clinton globalist ideals, forcing Putin to turn to China...

It shocked him because of its irrationality so he turned to China. Europe's loss is now China's gain.

The US has long stopped of being the keeper of the free western world.
In reality, it is similar to Russia, desperate to hang on to some sort of power.
Just look at their health system (despite Obama's efforts), the education system (Trump knows nothing of this world, nor has he any manners), or their treatment of environmental issues (not even mentioning the Paris P.)
I think it will be good for the free world, with a new gate keeper for democracy and freedom, namely Europe.
Good on ya, Angela Merkel, bring it on,
    regards

You want to see Germany's economy collapse, pull all military personnel and installations from Germany and move them to Poland and Greece.

There are about 54k US military personnel in Germany...think of how much money is spent locally...how much services used by the military industrial complex?

Merkel thinks the EU or rather her and Germany rather is ready. They are. They have been but I disagree with the above poster about the overall impact of our bases and spending there... The EU has a monstrous combined GDP.

I just don't know how loyal the people are to the EU versus their individual countries. Brexit hurt the EU. Not fatally but a seed was planted.

I think this is great for all involved. I really do. Let's start closing or handing off some of our bases

The EU will not survive more than two years. What a pity! It had a noble beginning but instead of one for all and all for one, it ended up with each one out for themselves. Germany was the strongest ...so the rest are now serfs. But then again, wasn't that always the natural order of things in Europe?

Merkel thinks that she made a mistake with the refugees, and it's the cause of the EU's woes, but she's wrong. A break up is something that was bound to happen... mostly because of Germany's coldness and hard handedness. The migrants just accelerated it.

As for Russia, it has 20 to 30% of the world's resources, which is why the US made them their major enemy. Thanks to the sanctions, Russia has now become self sufficient in all food products... They have their high tech industries, and its manufacturing is catching up to the West. So all in all, they import just about nothing.

The Secretary of Defense Shoigu has reported to the Duma that the Russian military is now up to par with Nato, and they are getting off the dollar together with China and going on a gold standard.

I just thought you would like to know.

Your overstating the EUs plight a bit much I think. Its possible the bond will grow stronger especially in the short term IE next 5 years... Because Merkel is going to hype up how they need each other more than ever.

Your also underestimating their ability to strengthen their military to quite obnoxious margins, something Russia can't compete with.

Your Russian love is showing, not that it's not warranted, just a tad over stating the facts. Just.. A tad

You and I agree on something... I need to go for a walk.

But there is a chance that Macron pushes through some kind of real reform that makes the EU a little more fair-handed to the rest of the members.

    We'll see.
