Mexico border wall: Trump orders aides to seize private land and disregard environmental rules

Sounds like Trump is getting desperate, poll numbers sucking and his mental faculties are in steady decline too?!!

President Donald Trump is so eager to complete hundreds of miles of border fence ahead of the 2020 presidential election that he has directed aides to fast-track billions of dollars' worth of construction contracts, aggressively seize private land and disregard environmental rules, according to current and former officials involved with the project.

He also has told worried subordinates that he will pardon them of any potential wrongdoing should they have to break laws to get the barriers built quickly, those officials said.

Trump has repeatedly promised to complete 500 miles of fencing by the time voters go to the polls in November 2020, stirring chants of "Finish the Wall!" at his political rallies as he pushes for tighter border controls.

But the US Army Corps of Engineers has completed just about 60 miles of "replacement" barrier during the first 2½ years of Trump's presidency, all of it in areas that previously had border infrastructure.

The president has told senior aides that a failure to deliver on the signature promise of his 2016 campaign would be a letdown to his supporters and an embarrassing defeat.

With the election 14 months away and hundreds of miles of fencing plans still in blueprint form, Trump has held regular White House meetings for progress updates and to hasten the pace, according to several people involved in the discussions.

Awesome news.....it's long past time to plug the leaks along the border. I don't know why liberals get all up in arms about Trump building a border wall, after all you say walls don't work so the liberal utopian dream of browning the country into shithole status shouldn't be affected.

BTW, he has the constitutional authority to seize private land. Don't like it? Change the Constitution.

Trump is doing his best to steal land from unwilling private citizens to complete his vanity project. He cares about personal image, not "saving" the country from things that aren't actually an existential threat. New proposal for Trump's 2020 campaign slogan: "The sky is falling! The sky is falling." I miss the days when the GOP and conservatives stood for more than irrational panic. And stop pretending to care about the Constitution until you learn to care about the tax and spending part of it. "Just compensation" can only come from the treasury. Congress has power over treasury spending, not the President.

Ask a liberal. I'm a libertarian. As I said, unlike the Trumpists I actually care about property rights and economic conservatism.

I remember more than a few incidents when ranch owners on the border made citizen's arrest of illegal aliens trespassing across their ranch and the SPLC with the approval of the political left sued the ranch owners for protecting their private property rights from trespassers.

Yeah, encouraging people, federal officials to commit crimes. Trump's blatant corruption in full display. My money is on Trump has done worse as POTUS, that has yet to be revealed. I can't believe no one in the wh staff has stood up to him, e.g., Attorney General Barr, as it is his responsibility. Yet Barr has just spent $30k to use one of Trump's places. Few libertarians favor completely open borders. I see you still value Lord Trump over the Constitution. You are free to it. Should you decided to engage in the truth in the future instead of "everyone who agrees with me, even from the right, is a leftist" imaginary nonsense, you should pay attention to the parts of the Constitution that deal with taxes and spending. Trumpists would prefer to pretend that part of the Constitution doesn't exist, but it does exist. Our interstates, for example, were built while obeying that part of the Constitution. Trump's aims with the border wall do not. All-of-the-sudden anti-Contitutional authoritarians (or maybe that's what they were all along) have some catching up to do.
