    HYPERLINK above has full story

    snip
Whitmer ordered and enforced some of the most restrictive coronavirus health-safety mandates in the country, sparking backlash from residents who protested at the state capitol.

Worthy's office said no legal basis exists to proceed with the cases, all related and pending cases will be dismissed, and that refunds related to fines or fees will be determined and ordered by the respective courts.

    end snip

comment- I thought that Governors take an oath to uphold the state Constitution? Why would a Democrat politician believe that he/she is above the Constitution?

Power corrupts, and it always has.

Arrogant politicians usurp powers not delegated, and they always have.

    Good news from Michigan.

But I do not understand why voters continue to vote Democrat for people like her and why the media portrays her as credible when she is incapable of upholding her oath of office?

I hope a Democrat voter can shed some light upon this.

People would much rather be “ruled” than go to the trouble of thinking for themselves, making decisions, and holding themselves accountable for the consequences of those decisions.

The most popular world view would suggest the desire to be ruled is a vestige of our evolutionary history.

Corona Queen Whitmer got overturned by a black robed judge. You have to love that. You know Trump holds the all time record for appointing federal judges.

sure, but it still begs the question; she took an oath of office to uphold the Constitution and then went and trounced on it. I'm waiting to hear from any Democrat voter on how this is acceptable? The facts are right here in the story

Party doesn't matter, though the situation today does show a stark contrast between the two parties.

But during the last few decades, politicians from both parties have usurped power.

Tulsi Gabbard the Democrat today regularly voices traditional conservative positions on several issues.

Democrat voters think Constitution was and is a totally racist document. And Washington and Lincoln were on a par with Hitler. That's why they're tearing down Lincoln and Washington statues and renaming all their public schools. Never thought I'd live to see it but the alternative was even worse.

For the most part Gov Witmer wanted people to mask up and avoid large gatherings. She pursued this aggressively and I think she was right to do so. In response, Republicans slung rifles over their shoulders and marched on Lansing while a slim conservative majority in the Michigan Supreme Court (that doesn't exist now) chose to -erroneously- declare any and all actions from her office to be 'unconstitutional' instead of just dealing with them on a case by case basis and root out some of the egregious orders whilst leaving the legitimate ones in place. I never thought I would live to see the day when Republicans would completely abandon personal responsibility and champion judicial activism, but here we are.

I see what you mean. Judicial activism is good when the judges are on your side. But judges shouldn't take sides which is what's really screwing up things.

The crux of this, is that with personal responsibility comes the ability to make a choice. We were told that we had certain unalienable rights, among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. It didn't say "Well, if a viral plague comes along." Any such public health laws have to be *consistent* with our other laws, no matter how much people would want to wish otherwise.

As a country, we failed not only to slow down the virus but more importantly we failed our values. That failure of living up to our values will stay with us, long after we've effectively dealt with the coronavirus.

Your values perhaps, but we are now at a new normal and those are Democrat voter values. What the governor of MI did by disregarding the Constitution, is right in line with what Democrats now want.

I've never come to grips with how Democratic voters must seem to think they'll somehow be exempted from the idiotic laws that are enacted by the idiots they so enthusiastically vote in. :confusion:

You put this well and I too believe we failed our values; in the sense that we should have be beholden to the values of personal responsibility, sense of community and most importantly the commands of faith. We shouldn't need punitive mask mandates and crushing shutdown orders, people should have recognized the need for them and do them on their own volition. But then people should realize that driving slow through shopping center parking lot is also important and yet we have put speedbumps every 50, /shrug.

But the other thing I like about what you said (and I've touched on this myself a few times) is there in bold and underlined. Life comes before liberty and happiness, and that was by design because if we were to map out the causality spectrum of all rights, or laws, or even the entirety of physics itself, the origin and endpoint for everything is the same; life. So given that I think we're fully justified writing any laws that preserve life and from there its just a debate on measured impact.

She was trying to save people's lives from an agonizing death.

She should have remembered her Schiller.

"Against stupidity, the Gods themselves contend in vain"

**** these maskless doughwads, if they want to have their FFRREEDDOOMMM to kill themselves let them. The gene pool thanks you

The only problem is they're mainly killing OTHERS, people who strangely don't want to die in agony to make Trump feel better. I'd appeal to their sense of ethics and fair play but these are Trump supporters so what am I thinking?

So, an elected official knows what's best for you? I encourage you to re-read your post. Your knee-jerk desire to support all things Democrat might put you into some very unsavory positions once you realize what your Democrat vote does to your personal liberty.

Unlike some conservatives, I recognize that doctors know more about medicine than I do and as long as elected officials agree with recognized medical science I am willing to agree with that. My personal liberty is of no value to me whatsoever if I am dead.

Then given what you posted, you seem happy to permit elected officials to decide what is best for you. I feel sorry for you, and if you ever really wanted to get into a serious PM chat, i am intrigued as to how you got to that place
