It's discouraging that you think that armed "protesters" is refreshing. Being armed carries with it the implied threat of violence.

I have no problem with the protest other than the weapons.

We settled this in my city easily. City hall received dozens of phone calls so they opened the parks.

Our governor did the same thing. Used logic not fear and intimidation

    Step 1 receive.complaint
Step 2 realize complaint is valid
    Step 3 make changes

Maybe Michigan should try some of this 1,2 3 stuff.

    It's all about freedom.

In 1967, protesters at Michigan's capitol legally exercised their 1st Amendment rights of assembly to defend their 2nd Amendment rights to bear arms. (If the current Michigan protesters had been black, Governor Gretchen Whitmer (D) would have had them promptly shot or arrested, I expect. But that's a different topic.)

    upload_2020-5-1_6-49-57.png

In 2020, protesters legally exercised their 1st Amendment right of assembly to protect their right to work and make a living. We probably need a formal amendment that people have a right to earn a paycheck, apart from the Declaration of Independence's right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness.

Maybe. But that doesn’t address the fact that protesters were armed. That’s inexcusable.

Did you notice the fact that the armed protesters had no Antifa problem?
That’s why those people brought guns - everything is fun and games till it comes to a point where your livelihood is threatened. That’s when sh!t gets serious and any Antifa thug would get shot for attempting to attack people expressing their grievances over quarantine.

I support the protests. But the guns are ridiculous. It's like wearing your best suit to the beach. The States Governors are just doing what they think is best under the circumstances. It's not like they're trying to subvert liberty or conquer the nation.

Wishing ill on others? That is your response? Quick question though... if those folks weren't sick, from where do you expect those exposures to come from? Are leftists as good as their word and sneaking infected folks into their rallies, you know, like so many democrats have opined so far?

Hmm.. Isn't that what Cuomo is doing in NY? Sending sick old people to the Gulag of nursing homes?

Hoping for misfortune to fall upon your fellow human beings because, for some reason, you disagree with them..
    Nice.

I really doubt liberals thought this through very far. Now that governments are seeing their revenues dry up, and there is a good possibility that those entities are going to entirely run out of money, all of those "essential" government jobs, and paychecks are about to dry up just like the small businesses have. Universities are begging for students, because, no revenue. And all those liberal folk who populate their work forces will also be up the creek..

I'll believe the governors of blue states are in it for the people when they choose to stop paying themselves for their "essential" services to their states. Ill believe liberals when they decide to for go their paychecks.

Three counties have a significant presence, all around Detroit.
The rest have minimal to none.

And what about law enforcement who were legally asking the armed protesters to leave?

Being armed is instantly an implied threat of violence and has no place in a protest like this.

The governor of MI is resistant to logic and reason, and seeks only to impose her will against those that dare to question her.
Just last week, she lifted the ban on traveling to a vacation home.

I know several preps that are armed 24/7 and I've never felt any implied threat.

81% of deaths (3,081/3,789) are in Tri-county Detroit. That area is 43% of the state's population. Detroit should continue restrictions.

19% of the deaths are spread out everywhere except Detroit. That 5.7 million people who are "locked down" where the case and death rates are lower than the national average.

Nursing homes are hit hard, and 75% of the state's nursing homes are in the Detroit tri-county area.

I don't think that's what he meant. Pretty sure he meant that if they won't listen to reason, then perhaps the fallout from their conduct will tame them, highlight the premature nature of the protest, and justify the Governors good intentions. Sometimes that what it takes. Hopefully he's wrong.
