Michigan protesters storm state Capitol in fight over coronavirus rules: 'Men with rifles yelling at

We know that about .0000001% of Americans are protesting. Statistically, not even a blip in voter population.

 

I see the thugs with rifles were out showing off their armament but in all reality it was a failed attempt to intimidate the governor and lawmakers in general.

I had the very same reaction. I'm all for protest - always. But the footage of these people armed were disturbing. To me. And, apparently, to the staffers who felt it necessary to wear bullet proof vests!

 

Silly them, not knowing their vests aren't effective aginst rifle bullets.

 

Your response indicates that you believe the staffers should have been concerned for their lives. The threat of violence was real.

Armed people protesting is effectively saying that if they don't get what they want they are prepared to resort to violence.

 

And sad, don't you think, that protesters would carry weapons that would - if used - cause that much damage.

And you don't think that's sad? That they would carry that kind of weapon to a protest in a government building? I think we might be done here - we won't agree on anything going forward.

That's just an argument from social darwinism and I reject those kinds of arguments. These people are protesting for reasons we can understand and we don't have to give into classist thinking.

Exactly. Just as many states are beginning to restart their economies after the presidential recommendations expired, some blue states are doubling down on additional restrictions.
