Our education system is messed up bigly. A kid is suspended for merely liking a picture of a toy gun but a college professor doesn't get squat when he says this:

In a May 10, 2017 email to students obtained by Red Alert Politics, Texas A&M President Michael K. Young refused to discipline or fire professor Tommy Curry. Curry called for white genocide, saying in a 2012 podcast "in order to be equal, in order to be liberated, some white people may have to die."
    http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/t...lled-for-killing-white-people/article/2622810

In the below story the middle school informed parents there was a threat of a kid bringing a gun to school, which is a totally dishonest lie. The blew it out of proportion and now the kid is screwed. Meanwhile, at Texas A&M, a person can freely call for the deaths of white people without consequence.

That's completely messed up. Yet another reason to separate government and education.

I kind of understand why they might want to look into this with a parent on board, by asking the boy some questions about why he 'liked' the gun and get a sense of where he is mentally about guns ( I bet the answer is that it looked 'cool') but this was utterly stupid. I have zero tolerance for zero tolerance policies because this is what you get. I pay the school district to use their brains, use their discretion and use their educational background. I do not pay them to refuse to use discretion or their brains or their education.

This is the kind of crap that is leading me to look into homeschooling my daughter. We need to get government out of education as a whole.

It wasn't a gun. It was an airsoft toy.

LOL, Oh my God! You mean that a toy designed to get boys interested enough to play with, got a boy interested to press a 'like' button and educators trained in normal child development were 'concerned'. I don't know what to say.

I agree 100%. The government should govern, not run schools.

I was just pointing out it wasn't even a gun, it just looked like a gun.

I'd think by now you'd know my stance on people who pee their pants when they see a photo of an actual firearm, let alone this laff-fest.

I'd sue the district and make them prove the kid made a threat. My kid could have pictures and videos of him shooting real guns. What would that school district do with that?

The argument made is that he could be fired because he's a government employee. So how does your comment make sense.

The racist comments are reprehensible and no doubt raised flags for law enforcement, as they should.

As for the kid, yeah, educators think too much about too little. But they are also trapped by laws and regulations, many of which were approved by the school board and not the people enforcing them. They have been forced to be much more than educators because parents weren't doing their jobs. Kids show up who are hungry, unmanageable, disrespectful, and even hostile.

A friend of mine had a wife who taught grade school. She once had a student [6th grade I believe] stand up, pull down his pants, and crap on the desk.

This is the reason I say we should have separation of education and state. The government should govern, not operate schools. Education is too important to be left to state bureaucrats.

Sue the school and use the settlement to put him private school. This nanny state bull **** is only going to get worse. Well until people stop using social media because of this type of ****. Funny how so many are eager to use the tools big government and big business use to manipulate and control.

Good point. I "unfriended" every friend on FB and deleted my account. Besides nanny state BS, employers can use it against you as well. I don't need the hassle.

    "Normal"

That's not the word I would associate with this generation of Troglodytes.

Tripe? The OP contains two subjects liberals can't stop talking about, racism and gun control yet suddenly you don't seem to have an opinion.

People need to know what's going on. There's so much crap going on, like what's in the OP. We need to shine a light on the roaches.

With libs in charge ... up is down, down is up, right is wrong, wrong is right, good is bad, and bad is good.

They didn't actually suspend the kid. They sent the letter home, parents complained, school acknowledged their mistake and withdrew the suspension. I agree the school reacted essentially to nothing, but they seem to agree and reversed course. I think you're making a much bigger deal out of this story than it warrants.

They withdrew the suspension before the kid missed any time. What damages would you be suing for, exactly?

Actually, it seems that when it makes your side of the aisle look bad, you claim nobody cares about it.

You couldn't be more wrong. When something this absurd is going on in our schools where children are supposed to be educated, people care. Your partisanship blinds you on virtually every issue.

Compare both stories I posted and look at the difference, there is concern and fear when it's not called for and vice versa with the other story.

The initial letter and the "omg people know about this let's CYA" follow up.
