Like another Military Times poll thread, this one was taken last October. Note that military support for Trump is higher than the public at large and also that the numbers haven't changed much since before his election. As I've posted previously, the best thing about Trump, IMO, is that he beat Hillary in the election. Hillary was highly disliked by our men and women in uniform. The second best thing about Trump, IMO, is that he is shaking the status quo in Washington DC to its foundations. He may not actually do much building while in office, but busting up the old SSDD-style of Washington politics may be good for the nation in the long term.

    https://www.militarytimes.com/news/...times-poll-what-you-really-think-about-trump/
President Donald Trump enjoys far stronger support among members of the military than the American public at large, according to the latest scientific Military Times poll.

Yet while Trump is especially popular among enlisted troops, officers have a much lower opinion of him.

And women and minorities in the ranks share similar skepticism.

Overall, about 44 percent of all troops surveyed in the Military Times poll have a favorable view of Trump, while roughly 40 percent have an unfavorable opinion of him. That’s a stark contrast to opinion polls of the general public, which have shown Trump’s popularity at less than 40 percent and an unfavorable rating as high as 56 percent.

Yet, the poll of more than 1,100 active-duty troops, conducted in September, shows a deep divide over service members’ opinions of the commander in chief, whose first nine months in office have been marked by military policies that have drawn both praise and concern from Pentagon leaders.

While almost 48 percent of enlisted troops approve of Trump, only about 30 percent of officers say the same, the poll shows.

When asked specifically about Trump’s handling of military policies, about 55 percent of all troops surveyed rated Trump’s policies as favorable, versus 26 percent unfavorable.....

...Troops’ views on Trump have changed very little since he was elected last year.

A similar Military Times poll conducted in late 2016, just before Trump took office, found about 46 percent of troops had a favorable view of Trump, while 37 percent had an unfavorable opinion of the incoming president. Both polls had a margin of error around 3 percent, making the shift in popularity figures slight, if at all.

“While he has done a number of things designed to appeal to the military, he hasn’t really moved the needle much,” said Peter Feaver, a White House official under former President George W. Bush who is now a political science professor at Duke University and has authored several books on military culture.

That Democrats make threads on here about how the military is full of Nazis. Obviously the cops and the military are the targets of our globalist Democrat friends.

If a Democrat tells you they are pro-military or Pro-cop they are lying to your face.

LOL. Yes, Democrats see nazis everywhere. They don't like the military nor the police...which is odd because they also want to disarm all Americans leaving only the police and the military with guns.

That's from LAST OCTOBER..and his main approval is FROM THE RANK AND FILE, who do the fighting.

"Officers" comprise the majority of the "unfavorable rating"...."In the rear with the gear"...

His approval is ASSUREDLY Higher NOW...as the next poll will show, I am confident.

    From October 2016: https://www.militarytimes.com/news/...port-grows-stronger-in-latest-poll-of-troops/
Meanwhile, Libertarian Party nominee Gary Johnson has seen his support slip among active-duty service members in the wake of a series of foreign policy missteps on the campaign trail....Most national polls show Clinton with a significant lead among likely voters, especially since the first two presidential debates and the concurrent groping and sexual assault accusations from Trump’s past.

But the results of the military poll -- which surveyed nearly 2,500 active-duty troops between Oct. 12 and Oct. 14 -- show more than 40 percent of service members planning to vote for Trump as the next commander in chief. That’s up slightly from September, before his campaign was besieged by the allegations.

    From Military.com October 2016:

    https://www.military.com/daily-news...oriented-troops-favor-trump-over-clinton.html
Career-oriented troops favor Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump over his Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton by a 3:1 margin, a new Military.com reader survey has found.

Of the more than 1,300 active-duty, National Guard and Reserve members who responded to the questionnaire and plan to vote in the Nov. 8 presidential election, about two-thirds, or 67 percent, said they plan to vote for Trump, while about a fifth, or 21 percent, said they intend to cast a ballot for Clinton....Across almost every demographic group, from branch of military service to paygrade to gender, Trump was the clear winner in the survey. (The Republican presidential candidate was also heavily favored by thousands more veterans and military spouses who filled out the questionnaire.)....Trump's lead narrows when the results are filtered for the active component. For example, among only active-duty respondents, 63 percent said they plan to vote for him. His lead further slips when the results are filtered for the officer corps. Among active-duty officers, 55 percent plan to support Trump; 29 percent, Clinton; 10 percent, Gary Johnson, the third-party libertarian candidate; and less than 1 percent, Jill Stein, the Green Party candidate.

About six in 10 active-duty, Guard or Reserve respondents, or 59 percent, who identified themselves as Independent said they plan to vote for Trump, compared with about one in four, or 26 percent, who said they intend to vote for Clinton.

About the same percentage of those who identified themselves as Libertarian, or 58 percent, said they plan to vote for Trump, compared with about one in three, or 34 percent, who said they intend to vote for Johnson -- a notable difference from a separate poll of military members but potentially in keeping with recent research indicating many undecided Republicans or one-time Johnson supporters are now backing Trump.

Yes, I know. It's posted in the OP. Are you okay today, GM?

Agreed. Most Liberals despise the military and call them Nazis or fascists.

Why do you think officers dislike Trump more than enlisted personnel? Were you ever in the service?

Change from obama era policies is probably the biggest reason, some officers were crying.

They get a new president, and all the policies change.

Obama went through the military and fired anyone who thought the military was about National Defense, many more quit on their own.

For obama and pals the primary duty of the military was the same as NASA's, muslim outreach.

Its the reason all our ships were getting smashed by civilian tankers.

You really have to look at the changes obama implemented while in office.

Obama made a deal with our historical adversaries, the Iranians. If you were in the military how would you feel?

Obama opened the doors to open homosexuals in the military. People joined just to get breast implants and sex changes.
There were always homosexuals in the military, but obama made it okay for dudes to wear dresses.

Obama and hillary sided with al queda terrorists to over throw kaddafi, stole his weapons, and invaded syria.

If you were in the military how would you feel?

in 8 years time, we'll get another President, and that person will change everything again, and people wont reenlist etc.

Can I take a stab at that first question??

    EDUCATION??

That is a pretty old poll... nothing later from the military??

EDIT - P.S. That poll was taken before the Trump parade debacle, where:

"Eighty-nine percent of Military Times readers responded with, “No, it’s a waste of money and troops are too busy.”

That cannot help his already shabby ratings in the military...

It's less than a year old. How much do you think opinions change over 6-10 months?

Additionally, the election polls I posted showed how, as one put it, "the needle hasn't moved much".

The poll was about troop's thoughts on Trump, not the military parade. Since it was canceled, do you think their opinions will change on Trump?

Thanks for your opinion. Did you ever serve our nation in the military and, therefore have a basis for this opinion, or are you just another of the 98% of Americans who never served because they were busy? Also, it's interesting to see ********* about Obama then join the Democrats in bitching about our men and women in uniform. Typical civilian.

I wouldn't have thought opinions on politicians would change much over 10 months, but that was before this president... I would think of all Americans, the military would be the group most disturbed by the parade idea and might cost him a point or 2 in the next poll... they are smart enough to realize that idea was not received as pro-military...

You are generally right though... we are all pretty much in our trenches over Trump (to use an old military term) and I have no idea what it would take to move the needle in either direction... I'm guessing a war or market crash...

i find the numbers peculiar and interesting regarding johnson. for the most part he was quiet about the military although he had an embarrassing moment about not knowing allepo. i wonder if the polls reflect the indifference towards johnson.

Trump's approval rating among our military personnel is 3 times that of what Obama's was...

If that was true, then obviously you didn't learn anything, ma'm. Calling the officer corps ******* isn't proof of service, it's just an example of a pissed off ex-service person who think the world owes them something.

Unlike the anti-military types on this thread and others, I give our service men and women credit for being able to see the larger picture. A parade is one thing; getting us into an unwinnable war, occupation or sending them off to be the world's policeman is another.

IMHO, Presidents get too much credit simply because they are the face of the US government. The real power is in Congress, but it's spread across to many people, there's no one specifically to blame like there is with the President. If times are good, the President gets the credit. If times are bad, the President gets the credit. In reality, a lot of those things take years to develop and a lot of them should fall directly into the laps of every Congress critter in office.

A previous poll from years ago, I can find it if you like, shows the shift of most military personnel from being Republicans to becoming Independents. I think this is a result of the Republicans moving further and further toward the authoritarian right on religious issues such as abortion and gay marriage and further and further away from traditionally conservative issues like national defense and our economy. Notice in the poll how many in the military are "Independents". Note that the "Independents" were staunchly against Hillary and many leaned toward Trump. Johnson had no chance of winning, but if those Independents and/or Libertarians were like me, they wanted to vote but could not hold their noses long enough to vote for the two biggest deplorables on the ballot.
