In capitalism wealth is political power. This new data correlates with the Princeton study, explaining that "economic elites and organised groups representing business interests have substantial independent impacts on US government policy, while average citizens and mass-based interest groups have little or no independent influence."

Study: US is an oligarchy, not a democracy

So this is how policies like Medicare for All can have 69% of support and Joe Biden will still say he'd veto it. He's out of step with 88% of his own party. The other 12% are likely anti-populist liberal elites: The Threat on the Left

So the headline is that rich people are rich and poor people are poor?

ETA: BTW, the idea that "national wealth" exists as some logical grouping is a commie pipe-dream.

Are you including only financial wealth or other wealth like houses? Also, are 401Ks that are technically in business accounts included in this calculation? lastly how do you factor in poor saving choices by people? Are the rich responsible if people don't properly save their money?

This data is from the Federal Reserve. It's like the Right is ideologically committed to working against their own interests. It's real simple. More wealth for you is less for them. They use their political influence to game the system at your expense.

I just want to be sure that houses and 401Ks are included. The data may be accurate but not be a complete picture of total wealth.

You just described the scheme of globalism! It is that simple. Perot talked about this scheme and how it would pull down wages for working people in the rush to the bottom for millions of us. To benefit those on top.

Milton Friedman sold this during the 80s. Hope he burns in hell. Just watched him on you tube back when he was on Donahue peddling the scheme. Destroying our middle class to max out profit.

I saw so many poor folks today as I watched people buy groceries. Middle class dead here and most people look poor these days. Depressing. We used to have a middle class town here.

It isn't getting better but worse as income goes upward and we regress to what we had before FDR took on the greed.

Is it at my expense? My 401K will be worth a lot less if the system isn't gamed.

On the plus side.... things were even worse back during the time of President Abraham Lincoln.

I agree..... progress has actually been made and...... even more could be made soon if we would think outside the box that the owners of CNN are building for us!

It’s like if a Monopoly game started with three sides of the board owned by one person, brown and light blue are still up for grabs for the remaining 9 players!

    Sounds fun!

Actually..... it is about to become fascinating......

"The Lord is now preparing courageous leaders who
will be willing to fight a spiritual civil war in order to set men free.
The main issue, as in the American Civil War, will be slavery versus
freedom. The secondary issue, which will be the primary issue for some,
    will be money
    .

Just as the American Civil War at time looked like it would destroy the entire
nation, that which is coming upon the church will sometimes appear as if it will
bring the end of the church. However, just as the United States not only
survived but went on to become the most powerful nation on earth, the same
is going to happen to the church. The church will not be destroyed, but the institutions
and doctrines that have kept men in spiritual slavery will be" (Rick Joyner, The Vision, page 39)

Jeff Bezos didn't "start" owning three sides of the board. "At the time of his birth, his mother was a 17-year-old high school student and his father was a bike shop owner." In high school, he worked at McDonald's.

It is always possible to do that in virtually any system besides absolute socialism.
Just becoming more and more unlikely every year in the US.

Using a 0.0000001% example doesn’t really make your point. It is more of a statistical anomaly than anything.

Exactly. Rich and poor are a set of habits. Give money to the poor and they will spend until they are poor again.

Wow these little kids would of been discouraged if they read this before they became millionaires .

    *Snip*

being “entrepreneurs in the making,” but that may not be as much of a joke as we thought. Kids these days. . .

There are actually a surprising number of millionaires who haven’t even graduated high school yet. We’re not just talking about Richie Rich here. We’re talking self-made millionaires who aren’t even old enough to open a bank account on their own. We’re talking about kids who understand business and how to make money. The mindset starts at a young age.

Without further ado, here are 12 millionaire kids we can learn from:

Again, for the fourth time, no one is saying it is not possible… It’s just highly unlikely.

I can point to examples of success in almost every form of economic practice — but when you look at the picture as a whole they remain statistical anomalies.

do you know the difference between a millionaire and a billionaire?
about a billion dollars... They do not compare

I disagree, it is so easy to become a millionaire in this country you just have to work your butt off and want it, and in reality it's not alot of money. Heck I know old timers who bought their house in the 1960's for $15,000 now worth $300,000 to a million dollars depending on the location ( like california)

Most people don't want it, to much trouble and sacrifice

This thread is not talking about millionaires. It is talking about billionaires.

Those two groups do not intersect in any realm.
A millionaire is closer to the homeless person living in a cardboard box than they are to a billionaire.

Lol. Yeah but now he does!

No matter how one gets rich with great wealth comes power. For money can buy most all things. That's all the monopoly game analogy points to.

Americans have traditionallly admired and looked up to our rich and successful! Especially if not inherited wealth.. In times of perceived unfairness does class warfare raise its ugly head. When all ships don't rise with the tide. For that means too much is being kept by the top as they reduce the value of labor. Like by offshoring to exploit poor sweatshop labor.
