Well we'll never know because nothing like the Penny plan will ever happen.

I know that all good ideas die when they get to washington and the Penny Plan would be marked for extinction too

But I was asked to name an idea to balance the budget proposed by any politician and I gave one

Its a good idea if we have the will to do it

Thats what everyone keeps telling me

So why do we even bother discussing the problem if it cannot be fixed and the ship is going to sink no matter what we say or do?

I think the problem (the deficit) is fixable, but no plan, whether it's the Penny Plan or any other, is going to work with a budget that's largely uncontrolled entitlement spending. That's dependent on a Congress and President to be on board, and frankly, I don't see how that would happen. To me, the only solution for a start is a balanced budget amendment, which our "fiscal conservative" members of Congress, like Paul Ryan, oppose.

But that would be step one. After that, Congress would fail to cut spending and would face a budget apocalypse leading to massive tax increases, then the next year, more massive tax increases, then the year after that, even more massive tax increases, until the economy collapses and the middle class, crushed under taxes, would finally revolt.

Then, and only then, could you cut spending. But that would be because taxes became the number one priority (not spending) of a middle class that would vote out almost the entire congress to do something about tax rates that would be crushing them in order to pay for IRS conferences to Palm Springs.

I think we cannot raise taxes enough to bother a majority og the voters because about 15% of the workers (aka the evil rich people) pay 90% of the taxes

And they will always be outvoted by the 85% who pay little or nothing

Its a trap that our country has fallen into that will be difficult to escape from

If the interests of the 90% was not disproportionately represented Congress would not be considering the tax break for the wealthy currently being debated.

The wealthy are overtaxed. Given the failure of government at every level in America ordinary Americans are also overtaxed.

How is the Wealthy overtaxed if they are still wealthy after years of paying the same taxes ?

Most 1 % 's have expressed that they do not want their taxes Lowered.

The wealthy are a small minority yet they bear most of the tax burden associated with our very bad dangerous government. Everyone who is taxed to pay for bad government is over taxed. The more you have to pay the more overtaxed you become.

Elucidate, son. How does that EXACTLY tie in to excusing Trumps misogynistic history?

So your wife has NO PROBLEM with Trump's DOCUMENTED history of misogyny? And as a side bar, how the hell does she think that (yet another) version of Reaganomics is going to make things better for the both of you?

FACT: the man was PROHIBITED from visiting a local mall as a result from his trolling for teenage girls (he as in his 30's at the time, I believe). Do some honest homework for a change, because YOU sure as hell swallowed every blessed bit of slander the GOP threw at Obama.

the little ditty was straight out of the op-ed's of one of Murdock's rags, or out of the mouths of one of Fox News shills.

Let me put you on the path to clarity: during the debates, Clinton (whom I did NOT vote for nor supported) pointed out the hypocrisy of Trumps whining about "China eating our lunch" in trade deals when he had NO PROBLEM using Chinese steel to build his hotel(s). Trump sneered in retort, "Well pass a law so I can't do that!"

    Got the message, son?

Trump has NEVER been about morals or doing the right thing by society. Trump is about the bottom line...his wallet and PR. And if he is NOT forced by federal law to do the right thing, he won't. To quote a journalist, he hasn't begun "draining the swamp", but instead is just adding more pollution. To make America great FOR ALL AMERICAN CITIZENS, we have to not only drain the swamp, but make sure that sociopathic con men like Trump are never again allowed to manipulate behind the cloak of patriotism.

Here's the thing: the dummies who elected Trump were (for the most part) the same fools who voted twice for Reagan.

And how did trickle-down (aka Reaganomics) economics work out?

Trump's history in business and his personal life have been on display for some time now. Anyone doing honest research would see the actual man behind the curtain and know he's not representing you.
But a large faction of America seems to think that variations of the SOS will magically work out in their favor.
    :hmm:

    And the band played on

Over a year and you're STILL ducking the daily documentation of this orange pated palooka's moronic actions? Newsflash for ya, Trump told YOU that he wasn't campaigning for your vote...just the electoral vote.

    Got that bunky?

Don't play games, you're not good at it. I never said that Trump was involved directly or personally with your mom or wife or sister or daughter, but rather his actions are indicative of his view of women in general. Faced with the historical documentation of this ( and if you're not willing to do the honest homework yourself, I'll provide it for you.), how does a guy say to the aforementioned women that it's not relevant to the what they want the man to do in office...ESPECIALLY since that man can influence laws that affect women's lives in particular.

What a crock! Upon election, major corporation WITHHELD NEW EMPLOYMENT AND LOCAL EXPANSION on the basis that were "waiting to see how Obama and the GOP controlled Congress would affect Wall St. And it is well documented that the GOP's primary mission was to stonewall and obstruct Obama at every turn, to make him a "one term President".

Despite that, Obama still managed to pull out of the economic tailspin brought to us by the Shrub. Deal with it.

Well, for starters I didn't vote for Slick Willy's second term based on his economic, social and foreign policy. That he was nailed as a two timing sleaze in his second term was just icing on the cake for me.

Franken and Conyers are very recent revelations. To date, I've read of the head(s) of the DNC calling for them to step down.

Trump's misogynistic actions were well documented LONG before he rode the racist birther movement to political prominence.

The OP question stands....care to answer it?
