    JAG Writes:

God is good all the time.

God is Sovereign. Thou art the Lord.

God knows things I don't know and can never know. "The secret
things belong to God." Deut. 29:29

God always does that which is right.

I do not hold God accountable. I am sinful dust Genesis 2:7
But Thou Art The Lord who always does that which is right
    Daniel 4:37

All God's motives, purposes, and goals are Good. Thou Art The Lord.

God has a Plan and all His works are Good. God works for the good in
all things for those who love Him and are called according to His
    purposes Romans 8:28.

God is Love -- 1 John 4:8,16 and God Plans good things for His
    John 3:16-Human-Race-Love-Project-Planet-Earth.

The Cross says God loves us

The Cross tells us what kind of Person God is -- God is the kind of Person that will
go straight into the Pain out of love for others.

God brings good out of unspeakable tragedies, for example God brought salvation
and eternal life out of the Pain of the Cross -- "for God so loved the world that He gave
His one and only Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life."

God went straight into the Pain of the Cross for us. God is courageous.

    Courageous-Love.

The Cross --- God is the kind of Person that leads from the front where the Pain is.

The evidence for these claims is? Other than circular logic that is.

According to the fairy tale, the Jesus character was only dead for around three days. So where was the sacrifice?

The term sacrifice is used to denote the giving up of something. Jesus gave up his life. God had to raise him the dead. Jesus would still have to trust that God would raise him up.

In addition, Jesus prayed fervently for another way for God’s purposes to be accomplished. Knowing the torture and type of death he was facing requires the sacrifice of comfort to be replaced with pain.

If the Jesus character was God why would he suffer pain? Even ordinary humans such as ourselves can reduce pain levels by swearing up a blue streak when we hurt. Maybe Jesus should have done some cursing, like he did at other times.

This is one of the points of Christianity I simply do not get, why would a god put his son through an agonizing death to accomplish his purpose, Seriously if I was to say that I am going to have a son then torture him to death in order to pay for the sins of others or in order to show how much I loved humanity would you not think I was a little bit crazy? It makes no sense. You could say well the way of god is not understood by man but that strikes me as just being a way of appeasing a celestial sadist because he is more powerful than us.

The entire problem of conceiving of 'God' is that, fundamentally, it is a fruitless endeavor. For 'God' to be 'God', the Creator of All and Everything, not just the "material universe" (if, indeed, "material" as we think of it is what exists), but all the forces and laws of physics, 'God' would have to be beyond all human conceiving in any but the most vague, metaphorical human terms.
What we witness, however, is that in most cases people conceive of 'God' in a manner more closely resembling a child's fairytale.

I’m not a Trinitarian, so that argument doesn’t work for me. The scriptures say: Be angry and sin not. Jesus was righteously angry. Surely, there have been times when you’ve been angry for right reasons. Like when you see a child mistreated.

Jesus is referred to as the second Adam and therein lies the key to understanding why Jesus had to die. I’ll make this as short as I can but details sometimes complete the picture.

Adam through disobedience died a spiritual death resulting in all mankind being born dead in trespasses and sin being without a spirit. He sacrificed spirit for pleasure. Jesus through obedience redeemed mankind offering the spirit to all mankind which would restore the spiritual relationship with God that Adam forfeited. This could be simply put by the phrase: A life for a life. Justice requires that since man (the first Adam) caused the separation, another man (Jesus the second Adam) was required for a reconciliation.

Have you ever thought about the similarities between the Abraham/Isaac sacrifice and the God/Jesus sacrifice? The idea seems to be that if a father sacrifices his son then everything will be just wonderful. IMO, it is a belief that belonged to idiots thousands of years ago and has no place whatsoever in the 21st Century. Abraham wanted to sacrifice Isaac for his own personal fame and fortune. The God character, who supposedly created the universe, was too stupid to realize that he could have simply changed humanity with a thought. But, like it says in Revelation 6:9-11, he is a bloodthirsty psycho who loves to inflict pain and misery on people.

That would definitely qualify as a miscellaneous thought about those who believe in God. Anything about God? :)

    Human sacrifice.

It's a cornerstone to most every religion.
Although, in this case, Jesus is god.

have you ever been crucified? i've been shot, stabbed and beaten and left for dead, but i have to admit that i'm glad i've never been strung up one a cross to die. the weight of the body makes it more and more difficult to breath as the arms are forced upward and the diaphragm is put under more stress. the strong only prolong their suffering, as the muscles must eventually give out, leading to suffocation. is that suffering enough for you?

the mythology is quite clear, though i don't suppose you care. jesus was god made flesh, suffering as men do. obviously you have never felt the sort of pain that makes one prefer death. take my word for it, cursing doesn't help. it isn't like stubbing you toe or hitting your funny bone on a corner. real pain is something it seems you have never experienced and you should be glad for that.

the similarity of which you speak exists only within the minds of those who seek to denigrate faith. abraham's sacrifice was a test of faith. perhaps you have never loved someone more than yourself, but sacrificing a son is one of the most painful experiences i could ever imagine. as for the whole god/jesus thing, you obviously don't get it. jesus was not god's son - jesus was god. this was god willing to experience the sacrifice of death for a greater cause.

as for changing humanity with a thought, perhaps this is the way that a megalomaniac would do things and i suppose we should be happy that, if a god really exists, it does not have your limited intellectual capacity. simply flipping a switch to suit one's whim is something an ignorant savage would do, not an entity capable of the creation of all that exists. the concept of self-determination is an integral part of the human experience and altering that would be to create a race of zombie acolytes. that may be your idea of heaven, but it's my idea of hell.

That would mean that the entire premise of Christianity is based upon a falsehood which it is, ironically enough.

You have made the Jesus character God. So, if the Jesus character is God, he made himself into a spirit, came to Earth, knocked up a virgin, and became a human. He then went on to allow himself to get beaten up and crucified, all the while praying to himself. And, while he was a human, he thought that he was his own son and had very limited powers. IOWs, he was a whacko in serious need of a lot of good shrinks.

BTW, according to the Jewish Babylonian Talmud, they claim that they killed the Jesus character using five different methods. They really wanted him dead.

Not all Christians believe in the trinity. The theology of Trinitarianism developed at the turn of the first century. Any references to it in the text of the Bible is nonexistent or open to interpretation.

    To whom?
Not to me. I left the religion a while ago.

But to most Christians, it makes a huge difference. It's the cornerstone of their belief.

That is terrible. Sorry to read that.

But, Jesus knew his fate before hand and the end result. According to the story.
And since Jesus is god, does god actually feel human feelings, even if in a human body? Being all powerful and all, I assume that would also mean an ability to not feel pain or emotion

I’m not trying to convert you. Not interested. But since we’re here discussing miscellaneous thoughts about god I thought we could entertain that thought.
