What's it to you. By your own dogma, you're just a hopeless meat sack without any purpose other than to eat, grunt, and die. What do you care what I think? Funnier still is that you pretend to be educated all the while, as if what you think matters, when by your own dogma, is utterly pointless and vain. More odd is your lifetime of sacrifices and good deeds towards others with a distant eye on eternity, of/in which you summarily deny having any belief, knowledge or stake. You are a walking contradiction. You neither made yourself nor can you rise from the grave. So you presume your/these shortcomings to be the all of it. Dismissing the former and the latter while absolving yourself in the median. Thus blinded, you declare there is nothing then to see. Yet you presume to labor to spare disappointment from "fairy tales". But from where comes your concern as if it were a matter of heart and soul, which by your own dogma is an act of treason. Either do or don't do. But cease ripping and snapping like some type of conflicted hell hound. It is unbecoming and nearer to the underworld than to enlightenment. Or gather to your smarmy pack and conspire in astonishment that there deign be a God who lives. And wonder what then has become of us and our secret oath.

    BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

    Obviously I struck a nerve!

That your ONLY response was a FLAMEBAITING ad hom screed riddled with FALSEHOODS that VIOLATE your own beliefs is amusing since it says far more about YOU than it does about me.

    Here is a CLUE!

I deal with REALITY and consider Stone Age SUPERSTITIONS an IMPEDIMENT to knowledge and the advancement of mankind. The FACTS support that it is RELIGIONS that are OPPOSED to KNOWLEDGE and that BEGINS with your fairytale about the Tree of Knowledge in the Garden of Eden being FORBIDDEN by your imaginary sociopath of a god.

And HERE is where it gets even more AMUSING!

I UPHOLD your RIGHT to believe in your Stone Age Superstitions.

What I OBJECT to are YOUR religious ZEALOTS trying to RAM your BELIEFS down the throats of my fellow citizens because your rights END where ours begin.

So BELIEVE whatever makes you sleep at night and the rest of us will continue to ADVANCE mankind using SCIENCE and KNOWLEDGE because that will SURVIVE as long as mankind does while religions FALL along the wayside of history to gather dust.

Not to split hairs, but actually it is science that has for thousands of years fallen by the wayside, the new replacing the old. While the principles and ordinances of Christian salvation have remained the same for two thousand years....same God, same Savior, same Gospel, same baptism,..... many of the principles of which are baked into our nations Constitution, instilled in our consciences and folded into our system of justice. Every good thing that every person does every day is germane to salvation, as well as crucial to where we go as a nation. And will always be as long as mankind exists. Gods work cannot be stopped. And fwiw, it was theists and Christians, not Atheists, who bequeathed us an inheritance in religious liberty and established our equality on the self evident truth that there is one God from whom we all spring. That is America's founding principle and declaration at the cornerstone of our liberty. I thank God for our founding Fathers. But I respect your agency to believe what you will.

There is no need for overcoming death. There is no final death. We are immortal children of God subject to the reincarnation principle that was largely removed from the Bible. This world is our kindergarten, and Adam & Eve didn't do anything unexpected for the circumstances. It's full of symbolic meaning and not to be taken literally. There is no need for salvation other than to get with God's obscure program and make personal progress.
The disempowerment is a trick of an ancient parasitic priestcraft. The Buddha and others such as the Cathars of France didn't need institutionalized religion. Furthermore, no one grants salvation or is granted salvation. Jesus exemplified the way.
Because it's senseless, irresponsible, and unworthy of any superior intelligence. The Jews new better than to accept it wholesale and even used it ages later to take advantage of the gullible Gentiles.
The secular mindset has serious limitations of its own. No matter where you look, you're likely to see somebody screwing up. We make mistakes and sometimes have to learn the hard way. As it says in the Bible, God values a repentant sinner more than one who has never sinned.

However, Christianity should not be dismissed just because of its primitive roots and irksome propositions. There’s more to the story as revealed in the scrutiny of religion offered by K. Ramakrishna Rao in chapter 3 of Mind Body Spirit by Charles T. Tart.

In its effort to displace pagan preferences and redirect piety to its brand of monotheism and the trinity, Christianity had to suppress divination, “the institute of oracles,” the activities of mediums, and “inspirational utterances.” It declared such forbidden holdovers to be heresy or “the work of demons.” (p.70).

Institutionalized religions have expanded their reach of authority, “orthodoxy and fundamentalism beyond the essentials of religious experience.” (p.70). Aside from altered or added content intended to favor priestcraft, there have been other subtle “accidental accretions.” (p.71).

Although religions promote essential truths that are valid, they also prescribe “nonessential practices and propositions.” (p.71) that have been acquired in transmissions tailored to local circumstances, time periods, and social context. The mistranslations that arise over time are “contingent and provisional.” (p.71). The vital essence of religion can get smothered. “…according to Toynbee…we are faced with the ‘task of disengaging the essentials from the nonessentials…’” (p.71).

True religion is not just a philosophy or just a “body of sacred truths, but rather a method…to achieve a state of awareness…beyond the normal…to stand in a special relationship to something considered divine.” (p.71).

According to William James, “…efforts to construct religious objects out of reason alone resulted in dogmatic theologies.” (pp. 71-72). “… true religious experiences are identified…[by] immediate luminescence…philosophical reasonableness, and moral helpfulness.” (p. 72).

“James believes that personal religious experiences are the outcome of mystical states of consciousness…” “…mystic experiences are ineffable in that they defy expression in words.” “They possess a noetic quality.” (p. 72). IAW an indirect but unremitting sense of knowing.

Eastern religions strive for transcendence, as in the nirvana of Buddhism with its escape from desire and the self-serving ego. “In the Advaita tradition of the Hindus, the ultimate reality is the pure being of consciousness…” “The…individual consciousness is a phenomenal manifestation of the supreme conscious being…” (p. 72). “… the transcendental state, as described in the Mandukya Upanishad, is ‘beyond empirical determination, beyond the grasp (of the mind), undemonstrable, unthinkable, indescribable, of the nature of consciousness alone wherein all phenomena cease, unchanging, peaceful and nondual.” “…one loses such distinctions as I and the other, the subject and the object.” (p. 73)

According to J. B. Rhine in The New World of The Mind (1953, p. 227) “The conclusion is inescapable that there is something operative in man that transcends the laws of matter, and therefore, by definition, a nonphysical or spiritual law is made manifest. The universe, therefore, does not conform to the prevailing materialistic concept.” (p.72)

“Research has already revealed several commonalities between religious experience and psi phenomena.” “…the characteristics of psi are inconsistent with the materialistic conception of the universe and point to a reality closer to the one that underlies major traditional religions…” (p. 82).

The attitude that only science can provide a complete and valid description of physical reality has been undermined. IMO materialism has been exposed, found flawed, and refuted. Its seductiveness is conducive to self-serving justifications by highly motivated egos who clamor in the short-sighted fray of elevating themselves at the expense and suffering of others for the sake of gain. Long ago, my supervisor said, “They’ll kill people to make a buck.”

Since Atheism relies on an unbalanced focus subject to the limitations of physicality, sensory functions, and obsessive rationality, it has no valid compelling authority or attractiveness except for narrow-minded use as a default secular antidote to the defects in religion that are outside its legitimate ideals.

    :roflol:

YOU just PROVED that your SUPERSTITIONS are STUCK in the Stone Age while SCIENCE, which is based upon a QUEST for KNOWLEDGE, is ALIVE and THRIVING.

Then you made your FALLACIOUS allegations about the Founding Fathers that are so EASY to DEBUNK!

NOWHERE in the Constitution is there a SINGLE mention of YOUR imaginary god!

OTOH the Founding Fathers EXPLICITLY stipulated their SUPPORT for SCIENCE not once but TWICE in the Constitution.

Then the Founding Fathers took it a STEP BEYOND in the Bill of Rights by stipulating the RIGHT to Freedom FROM Religion by EXPLICITLY making it ILLEGAL for the government of We the People to IMPOSE any religious beliefs on We the People.

Thanks for bringing up that theist FALLACY so that it could be completely and utterly DEBUNKED.

The Declaration of Independence and the Revolutionary war to secure it preceded the Constitution by about twelve years. Without the former, the latter would not and could not exist. As for science, it is great. Where would we be without aspirin and indoor plumbing. Not to mention everything else which brings ease to our lives. But none of that changes or improves what kind of person or people we are. That's where (for instance) Christianity or any set of personal values is applicable. Your fascination with science is odd as if one could have a personal relationship with a chrome plated revolver.

Sounds like you're saying that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is a hodgepodge of disparate pieces from which you pick and choose that which seems appropriate to you, like a buffet from which you make your own sandwich. Such a mindset is by its nature self serving so as to create a God more appropriate to your own wishes. Clearly this is folly, not to mention thievous and plagairistic. It is best to leave Gods work untouched than to barter it away in pieces like the soldiers who gambled for Jesus's clothing.

That is actually pretty funny and likely accurate. There was a time many thought Thunder represented the angry voice of God. And let us not forget when just a 1000 years ago the church believed in geocentrism. Even the Catholic copernicus spoke up only to have his Church rights stripped

Science is a natural (and quite formidable) advesary to religion and it will always be because science is the only method that has (and will continue to ) disproved beliefs.

"Geocentrism" has nothing to do with the gospel of salvation. Salvation perfects ones inner person. Science does nothing for the soul, spirit, heart or intellect. Otherwise you could dress a bear in a space suit and call him John Glenn. But I suppose that as a vehicle, science might be the means for spreading the gospel. But science cannot make one a better person.

According to the Bible, there is no need to be a better person because God created each person for a specific purpose.

    Romans 9:19-21 Easy-to-Read Version (ERV)
19 So one of you will ask me, “If God controls what we do, why does he blame us for our sins?”20 Don’t ask that. You are only human and have no right to question God. A clay jar does not question the one who made it. It does not say, “Why did you make me like this?” 21 The one who makes the jar can make anything he wants. He uses the same clay to make different things. He might make one thing for special purposes and another for daily use.

So, good people are bad because God made them good and bad people are bad because God needs them to do bad things, such as killing people before he returns =

    Revelation 6:9-11 Easy-to-Read Version (ERV)
9 The Lamb opened the fifth seal. Then I saw some souls under the altar. They were the souls of those who had been killed because they were faithful to God’s message and to the truth they had received.10 These souls shouted in a loud voice, “Holy and true Lord, how long until you judge the people of the earth and punish them for killing us?”11 Then each one of them was given a white robe. They were told to wait a short time longer. There were still some of their brothers and sisters in the service of Christ who must be killed as they were. These souls were told to wait until all the killing was finished.

Therefore, if everyone could become good there would be no killing and that would tick God off because he demands that a certain number of people MUST BE killed before he returns.

Maybe that is why the Jesus character said you should not resist the evil man.

Duly NOTED that you could NOT refute a single one of the FACTS that I provided about the Founding Fathers and the Constitution.

Instead you have reverted to the FALLACY that your Stone Age superstitions are the ONLY reason that people are not killing and stealing.

Society UNDER your religion was STUNTED into what amounted to SERFS and MASTERS. Your religion preached OBEDIENCE by serfs to their Lords and Masters. The MAJORITY of people lived short brutish lives of DESPERATION.

This OPPRESSION of We the People only existed because YOUR religion IMPOSED a stranglehold on EDUCATION. Those that were allowed an education were INDOCTRINATED into the religious DOGMA of oppression.

That poverty riddled existence continued for 1700 long miserable years until the ENLIGHTENMENT when SCIENCE and EDUCATION for EVERYONE without the malign indoctrination of your religion came about.

The Founding Fathers were BORN into the Age of Enlightenment and took the MORTAL RISK to throw OFF the YOKE of religious OPPRESSION and embrace SCIENCE instead.

It was only AFTER your religion was caste aside that the STANDARD of LIVING rose for We the People. Our current lifestyle is thanks entirely to SCIENCE. We live LONGER and better LIVES now that our ancestors did when they were OPPRESSED by your religion.

As far as having better VALUES is concerned it was your religion that ENDORSED and SUPPORTED slavery. It was your religion that OPPRESSED blacks and denied women the right to vote and wanted to keep gays in the closet. At no stage did your religion take the lead when it came to IMPROVING the lives of those that were still OPPRESSED.

The "values" that you are espousing have been proven to be the values of OPPRESSION and the CAUSE of OPPRESSION.

    Facts matter!

Atheists in Christian garb, or evil done in Gods name throughout history, cannot rightly be called Godly or representative of him. And as for your "enlightened" modernity, to suggest that obese, disease ridden, immoral, perverted peoples who are awash in all manner of criminal behavior and pollution, perched on the precipice of nuclear annihilation, is somehow a wondrous scientific achievement, is light years beyond ludicrous. I dare say that were it not for Gods gifts of consciences, free agency, and the affirmation of gospel principles not yet totally done away and discarded, we'd be fit for nothing but destruction.

Well, I wont beat this to death

Science is a process, namely the pursuit of absolute truth. Geocentrism was thought by the church to be truth (and if you did not agree with the church, you were persecuted for it) until Science proved otherwise.

By default, all beliefs are not considered TRUE until they are proven to be truth. That is why they are called "Beliefs" :)

YOUR infallible word of your imaginary deity STIPULATES that anyone who curses their parents MUST be put to DEATH which is something that a child with Tourette's Syndrome would do because they have TS.

You stated no facts. You never do. Just a twisted view of reality to suit your bias. As such I addressed it all. Fyi, money grubbers in Christian garb are no more a reflection of God or Christianity than rip off con artists, who "fix" your driveway for a hefty sum, are representative of the real craft.
