    Pia Wurtzbach

    Early life and background
Wurtzbach was born in Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg, in then West Germany, to a German father and Filipino mother. Her middle name of "Alonzo" is her mother's maiden name which is a naming practice in the Philippines and based upon Spanish naming customs. From Iligan City, she later moved to Cagayan de Oro City[9] in the country's Northern Mindanao region where she attended kindergarten at Kong Hua School and primary school at Corpus Christi.[10] Her parents separated when she was 11 years old and she became the family's main money-earner until the age of 18 by doing modeling and acting.[6] After being raised in the Philippines, she spent several years in England.[11] She finished her secondary education at ABS-CBN Distance Learning School in Quezon City, Metro Manila and studied culinary arts at the Center for Asian Culinary Studies in San Juan, Metro Manila.

Born in Germany, moved to the Philippines with her parents, started kindergarten in the Philippines. Her parents got separated when she was 11 years old. Did her father move back to Germany? Was her mother on a work-visa or other visa type when she met her husband or were the parents married elsewhere but had both Germany entrance rights as well as Philippine entrance rights?

Iligan City and Cagayan de Oro City are both in the Philippines.

And this would mean that a German man was living in the Philippines for 11 years. Does the Philippines have a lot of Germans in it?

    German settlement in the Philippines

    Modern Era

In recent years, several German businesses have set-up shops in the Philippines and a number of Germans have chosen the Philippines as their new residence. In the Philippines, since its formation in January 1906, the German Club has provided a place of respite and interaction for Germans and Filipinos alike.[6] In the past century, it has stood witness to the country’s unfolding history and today enjoys the regular patronage of members and guests at its current location in Legaspi Village, Makati City.

I guess it wouldn't be so difficult for a German to marry a Filipino with friendly relations such as this.
