Yes, its true.......Major League Baseball is concerned about the number of blacks playing the game. I am quite confident that Roger Goodell will come out next week and appoint a similar 'task force' to investigate the reason why the NFL drafts only about 24% White players every year........and the NBA is very concerned about the lack of native born Whites playing pro basketball.......LMAO......:confusion:

Maybe because baseball is a different type of sport than football, basketball and hockey? Baseball is the most one-linear, dimensional defining 'sport' in all of the world. Not only would black athletes fall asleep at that kind of sport, but within its heavily restricted zone of play, the outworldly skill of Black Americans wouldn't be showcased.

Yes, I hate baseball. As much as I hate affirmative action. Why doesn't the MLB die already?

Uh, after Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier, most of the best baseball players were black until relatively recently. Hank Aaron, Willie Mays, Willie McCovey, Reggie Jackson, Rickey Henderson, Barry Bonds, Ken Griffey Jr, Frank Robinson, Ernie Banks, Andre Dawson, Dwight Gooden, Frank Thomas, Lou Brock, Ozzie Smith, Eddie Murray, and on and on and on and on.

Yeah, I'm not a baseball fan, so I'm sure History will record great African-Americans. But I wouldn't know, due to my general dislike for the sport. Terrell Owens would be hamstrung on a baseball field.

Hell, any "athlete" regardless of race would be hamstrung in a race car(Nascar), which I hate even more.

I think you left out a few players......like Greg Maddux, John Smoltz, Harmon Killebrew, Tom Galvine, Phil Niekro, Wade Boggs, Mike Piazza, Brooks Robinson, Jim Thome, Jim Palmer, Chipper Jones, Hank Greenberg, George Brett, Bob Feller, Steve Carlton, Cal Ripken, Eddie Matthews, Pete Rose, Nolan Ryan, Johnny Bench, Mike Schmidt, Sandy Koufax, Tom Seaver, Randy Johnson, Roger Clemens, Mickey Mantle, Stan Musial.....yep, they all sucked and only black players have been any good over the last 50 years..........LMAO.

Why only blacks? Is their an abundance of Asian and Mexican players? Either way it sounds pretty dumb to me.

No idea the best players around the world are playing. Could care less where they are from or what skin tone they have.

It's just one dude's outlook on the most boring sport in America: Run, catch, throw, hit.(Except when there's a HR, then 3 of the 4 don't apply). I'm sorry, but I'm so anti-baseball I think sports would be better off without it.

At least soccer, with even less dimensions is more free flowing.

That's exactly what he said......can I quote the racist for you?:

"Uh, after Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier, most of the best baseball players were black until relatively recently."

Not only a racist comment.......but a moronic comment as well.....showing a complete lack of knowledge of the game of baseball.....which you are showing as well......but thanks for playing.

A very racist post, but I doubt the poster comprehends that.

Pretty much. Just get the best person for the job. Not sure why color of any kind needs to be injected into it.

Nothing racist about it. How many young black men in their community dream of being a 'great baseball player'? And how many of these great vertical athletes would translate in a one-linear sport?

Mod Edit ~ Rule 2/Don't make it personal.

Again, I was making a general statement, about a general sport I care little for. Regardless of its history, today's outworldly athletes would be confined within its rules/boundary.

I love Tennis as a far more epic sport only dealing with one dimension.

Is anyone sure less than 14% of MLB players are black?

That's the problem: Baseball can't be "revolutionized", so much so that instant replay was viewed as a "pretty big thing" and still is in the MLB community to this day.

It started out as a game with bags on dirt, and it remains a game with bags(bases) on dirt.

My post wasn't about race, my post was on an explanation on why Black America(and an increasing number of inner-city Americans) dismiss this outdated, 19th century sport.

Blacks 'dismiss this sport' because they are not as good at it as Whites. Whites have better hand-eye coordination and therefore are better pitchers in baseball which is the most important position.......just as with the Quarterback position in football.

    Taxcutter says:
Baseball requires a lot of real estate. How many basketball courts can be stuffed onto the area of a baseball field? Flat, open real estate is precious commodity in the inner city.

It takes little to organize a one-on-one basketball game, but baseball requires two teams.

Black MLB players tend to be rural or suburban, just like white and Hispanic players.
