We got a choice here. You don't have to tap into the gas line. Electricity is much more expensive to heat a home with than natural gas, however. And in the country people primarily use propane for house heat, and some who have enough land use wood. And some use wood and propane in combination. I've never seen anyone using heating oil here -- afaik it is only available in the northeast.

We ran out of rivers that are large enough for useful hydroelectricity. Now, we do have many dams that aren't being used for hydropower, but that's a different issue.

Let me see if I understand what you're saying.

They're stopping the installation of natural gas in homes because natural gas is a problem so they use electricity that's created using natural gas.

Oh, and coal, which is about 30% of the method used to generate electricity.

Sounds like a Democrat came up with this plan.

Ya fuel oil is pretty old school.. The soda ash plant I worked at still has the tanks but they have long converted to NG.. The other plants work off heat generated by powdered coal and air injected into a furnace, gotts say, that's the most intense heat generating thing I have witnessed! The sound alone is impressive!!!

I solved CA's electricity problem for their electric cars.

    Take that, fossil fuels.

You can take the combustion out of the car, but you can't take the car away from combustion.

Depends on the dam you built. We have many that are bassin-less or as we say in french "au fil-du-courant". The biggest of its type is in my hometown of Beauharnois: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beauharnois_generating_station

China now has at least one electric plane in actual flight testing. It is just a small one or two person plane.

Good luck! Of course with their population number they can spare a few soul during testing.
Also, keep in mind that China is good at producing prototype and never following through. Look at their military if you need exemple.

Both countries are nearly the same size in land mass ,but the population of Canada is 12% of the USA population, apples to oranges. Good, build a few more dams for the export market.

    Nice job,

Which province is Canada’s largest producer of hydroelectricity?
When you take a look at the electricity generation province per province, you notice the importance of hydroelectricity to many Canadian regions. According to NRCan, at least four provinces get the majority of their electricity supply from hydroelectricity. Manitoba is the No. 1 hydro generator, with a 97 percentage, while Alberta only uses 2.8 percent to generate electricity.

    • Manitoba: 97.0%
    • Quebec: 95.3%
    • Newfoundland and Labrador: 94.3%
    • Yukon: 93.7%
    • British Columbia: 89.4%
    • Northwest Territories: 37.4%
    • Ontario: 22.3%
    • New Brunswick: 21.5%
    • Saskatchewan: 13.3%
    • Nova Scotia: 8.7%
    • Alberta: 2.8%

35% of electricity is generated from natural gas.
27% of electricity is generated from coal.
19% of electricity is generated from nuclear energy.

Less than 20% of electricity is generated from solar, hydro, geothermal, wind, etc.

I would not consider Houston Texas as particularly left leaning but they are one of the cities considering a ban on natural gas in new home or business construction. A lot of locations that have experienced major gas explosions with loss of lives are considering a ban.

The most common causes of house fires
How many electrical fires are there per year?

Problem is that forcing a change in homes does not create a change in natural gas, which is a very efficient fuel anyway. Most generating plants making that electricity will be fueled with natural gas. When you burn one fuel to create another, you compound the degree of inefficiency is both. That gas coming to those generating plants come in typically in an 18-24" pipeline at 800 PSI pressure- and that is a huge volume. The pipeline will be underground in the electric companies easements- usually, the same easement that has 60,000 volt high tension power lines carrying electricity out... and overhead. I once represented a landowner in an easement dispute over the loss of value to the lots in his development, which the easement would cross- that gave me the opportunity to question the lawyers and engineers present for the gas company. That particular pipeline was less than 1/4" thick steel, coated to resist corrosion. The case I presented was the potential of av disaster that might occur when a pipeline of the magnitude burst beneath such a power line, and how that potential would affect the perceived value to a buyer. Found an example of just such an incident to demonstrate. Must have worked, because the settlement they paid was six times more than they has offered based on a previous appraisal.

Fact is we are making changes and progress in the environmental areas steadily. Efficiencies are way up, and improved levels of insulation are cutting use down too. Cars getting great mileage and producing less pollution per gallon burned at the same time- with electric cars coming in as quickly as technology makes them practical.

When people get so excited over things like climate change that they abandon common sense and an orderly transition, they advocate foolish ideas that will have the opposite effect. Have to avoid shooting ourselves in the foot, trying to fast-draw an answer.

As an example an over pressurized gas line in MASS in 2018 led to the destruction of over 40 homes and fires in an additional 40.
