In FL most of the people I’ve seen through all of this, who walk around maskless, have been minorities. This is just my experience.

Deserve? I was just pointing out an observation. I didn't realize the disease cared about what people deserve.

Not really. Friends who contracted COVID (a couple who picked it up overseas) didn't realise til they were sick until they'd been home for a few days .. as in home with their four kids in their typical Australian suburban home .. as in smaller than the average American home. None of their kids caught it, because they were scrupulous with infection control protocols, and basically stayed isolated in their bedroom until they had recovered. Another friend, who lives in a two bed/one bath cottage, managed to avoid spreading it to her husband and child by drastically altering their living arrangements and behaviour within the home. It has nothing to do with rent or income, or even how many people live in your home. It's about behaviour.

And that can work IF and only IF you are aware that someone is either contaminated or potentially contaminated

Bigger than that is the amount of ventilation

Unfortunately migrants have been the biggest vector in Australia's resurgence, also. The first round was mostly white returning travellers. This round has been mostly migrants. Everyone knows it's true, but no one will say it out loud.

No, it applies to anyone who needs to work in hazardous public interface jobs. Infected or not, if you're out there with the germy public every day, you behave according to protocols when you get home. It's not rocket science.

Ventilation? Every dwelling on earth has windows, unless you live in a cave. Furthermore, if there is some reason you can't open your windows (weather, for example), then clearly you need to work even harder at those protocols.

    That behaviour is very important.

Oh! Dear! Not heard of multilevel high rises that do not have windows that open? It is often very difficult to maintain social distancing and infection control in close quarters - this is why the slums of Mumbai have been hit so badly

Density is only a factor if no other protocols are observed. Density hasn't been a huge problem in Japan, or Taiwan, or Vietnam .. that's because citizens of those nations are far more compliant with protocols. Same applies to public transport, very commonly used (and often very crowded) in the above three nations.

These exist in Tokyo and Singapore, also.

Seems it needs to be said loudly and often, despite it being patently obvious - if you ARE in such living arrangements, then you need to take extra extra precautions. You can't just carry on as usual, then blame the building. Your behaviour must alter dramatically.

I know someone who lives in a small high rise place in Tokyo, with 5 other people. They have had to work out a careful roster of kitchen/bathroom use (the only two common rooms), and stick religiously to comings and goings via the single door. They meet once or twice a week in the kitchen, but all wear masks and stand one per corner, with the couple sitting at table in centre. And speaking of bad ventilation, the person I know doesn't even have a window in their 2 metre x 3 metre bedroom.

I know a family of three (a 90 year old, and two 60 year olds) in NYC who live in a tiny apartment, and also had very strict protocols for behaviour at home during the lockdown - and still do, though slightly relaxed. Choices.

It's all a bit tedious, but it's what must be done. It costs nothing, just a change in behaviour.

Such a development is not at all surprising when one considers the behavior of members of the black community. Specifically those who feel compelled beyond the capacity of reason, to knowingly and deliberately gather close to one another for the sake of protesting and rioting, simply because they cannot stop feeling upset about developments they do not like.

It is as if rational thought is entirely devoid for them, and they are incapable of doing anything other than reacting on a purely instinctual level.

Such does not even begin to address the number of individuals who conduct themselves in a manner that is in clear violation of the law, as if they believe they are entitled to commit crimes simply because they want to do so.

I was recently in central Washington state and observed the same. Few if any Hispanics wore mask in the grocery store I went into. Most if not all Caucasians did.

I heard it's because they can't afford kangaroo meat which apparently stops the covid virus in humans.

Its not accidental that some are being big hit harder than others and behavior has a lot to do with it once you get passed age. In Home Depot back in March when we were really locked down, the few people i saw without a mask back then were a couple black guys. Home Depot turned the two guys away.

Now I see all types. But certain Demographics certainly have been less careful.

And the behavior of blacks in Georgia is at issue?

How..because many of them are "essential workers" and don't have the luxury of being laid off or working from home?

They have disproportionately higher crime rates, so why wouldn't they have a higher covid rate? Clearly members of that race disproportionately don't care about rules and laws. and before you cry race card, I base this on FACTS and STATISTICS

The virus doesn't know or care what race you are, it only cares about your behaviour. It's like a sinister little MLK.

Meantime .. again .. if you DO have to go out to work, then your behaviour in the home becomes vastly more important. I know quite a few folk who not only worked with the public, but worked in the front line in emergency medicine. They had to dramatically alter their behaviour, as did their households. It's all so flaming obvious, that your resistance to it is beginning to smell like some kind of ideologically driven moral outrage.

Why are you IGNORING the facts and statistics regarding POVERTY RATES and RACIST hate crimes against blacks?

You really wanna go there? Go ahead and look up white on black crimes vs black on white crimes. The latter is much higher. Then factor in how much less of the population is black. Math doesn't lie. They have a MUCH higher crime rate.

I'd also point out that this is total silliness from the perspective of science.

So, you found one case like this. But, you have NOTHING when it comes to determining how often this is successful - or even how often it would fail without the care you claim took place.

In other words, you've got precisely nothing - other than your bias.

This is a more complicated issue than that.

One of the problems with racism in America today is that minority communities are not being properly policed.

All too often the policing that DOES happen comes from a police force that is NOT trusted or appreciated by the population. And, that is a well known failure point for all law enforcemnt.

A population is not going to work together with a police force that hates and disrespects them as individuals and a community to the point where police kill people simply for BEING there.
