"Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said Sunday that middle schoolers in Kentucky would be better off if funds that would otherwise have gone to constructing a new school were used for President Trump's proposed border wall."

"Graham was responding to the question regarding where President Trump will get the money for the border wall now that he has declared a national emergency."

    What can one say?

Appears Lindsey is rapidly becoming the Senate's Louie Gohmert

I'm thinking Lindsey is thinking 2020, I believe he is up for reelection and the last thing he wants in South Carolina is a primary challenge from the right, either that or he really needs a daddy figure now that McCain has passed

I noticed nothing in the article that says a new middle school is needed. The posted quote is also completely put of context with the rest of Grahams comment.

But I expect nothing less from the violent left.

I thought local/state property taxes paid for school construction. At least that’s how it works in my neck of the woods......

Put it this way, Kentucky is ranked 47th in educational achievement among the States. It could use every dime it can get for education.

    Really?

It was an analogy he threw out there, duh, he wasn't talking about a specific middle school in Kentucky, but generalizing, it could have just have been a hospital in Salina, Kansas or a road in Boise, Idaho, wake up

What does the DoD budget have to do with a middle school in Kentucky?

Every dime spent by the DOD is one less that can be spent on education. But Graham has become a sock-puppet, so who knows what he meant.

But theres nothing to suggest that any of this money would be used for education. Also, money isnt the problem with our education system. Teaching to standardized tests, consistently lowered standards, and too much administration are among the many general problems.

Oh, so your implying Trump's fabricated emergency should take top priority over any other priority in the country, got it. Now will Trump's million dollar golf junkets to Florida suffer?

And you are easy prey for demagogues, actually, anyone who will tell you what you want to hear, you know there is a reason all those demagogues are millionaires just talking on AM radio
