The country music star, Morgan Wallen, got drunk about a week ago and said the N-word. Wallen, had been out with friends, and was in front of his house. He didn't call a Black person this name, he was talking to his White friend. Wallen, also said a few other choice words, not in anger, just in drunkenness. A neighbor just happened to record him. Almost immediately radio stations started taking his records off their play lists and he was scolded by other music artists. Some people are saying his career is over, finished. He is a talented songwriter and singer and he is still young. What do you folks think about the Morgan Wallen, situation? Do you think they are coming down on him too hard? Does he deserve a second chance? P.S. Morgan has made a sincere apology for what he said.
Alcohol doesn't cause a person to do what they typically won't do. It just lowers one's inhibitions. Relative to his saying the word, I do not believe that people should be shamed for speaking that way. It makes it easier to know who the real racist are. I'm an totally against censorship of that kind. I believe an apology should be enough this instance, but, I don't control the media or have any sway in public opinions.
Apparently it has been a big boost to his label https://www.cnn.com/2021/02/08/entertainment/morgan-wallen-record-sales/index.html
What can you say? The woke are a fickle bunch. You have to be a member of the right clique to use the forbidden words. Country radio doesn't like a controversy. Perhaps we should just ask little nasx if he is good with it...
Political correctness has gone much too far to the extreme. It seems we're at a point where once you say something you have to then try and explain it or you're in deep s--t.
I agree that alcohol doesn't change people, just lowers their inhibitions. I also agree his apology should be enough in this instance. Hopefully, he will be more discreet when speaking in public.
Also, once a person becomes famous they can't do and say the same things they did and said before they became famous. I hope Morgan Wallen will remember this. I also hope this will not end his career. I like country music and I like Morgan's song "Whiskey Glasses".
Maybe or maybe there is a little right wing virtue signaling going on. IDK. I've never heard of him or his music but I am not really into the country music scene.
Do tell! The NYT forced out a writer with a 49 year long career there because he was trying to explain it. Apparently he wasn't aware of the rules changes from the day before yesterday. New York Times Meltdown Plays Out in Private Facebook Group “‘We do not tolerate racist language regardless of intent’ might be the most racist statement I’ve ever read” Lol!
Maybe the whole reaction is a little hard but guess hes being used as example and rightfully so. These types need exposing whenever possible theyre totally ignorant of their white privilege.
Its politically correct to expose racists now? Smh. White nationalists are really stretching with this line of argument. Desperate much?
Fickle. And do you mean to say that your assumption of my race deems me unable to use the clique forbidden words? What does your post even mean? Are you suggesting that it isn't ok in say the black community who constantly use the N word as a greeting, as an adjective... as a noun... and a superlative... etc. please.....
And thou shalt become an astonishment, a proverb, and a byword, among all nations whither the LORD shall lead thee. ^ Israel.
Do you believe there is a way for people on either side of this issue to come together with a workable plan that doesn't leave minority X (whomever that is) feeling put down and disenfranchised while not making person Y (whomever that is) dig his/her heels in exasperation? As you can tell, the current setup isn't working well for either side.
Its plain racism no question. So the question is how to eradicate racism. Education. The media is a big factor in promoting racism. Social media like facebook and hollywood are not doung enough to counter white nationalism and anti black racism.
I commented on my thoughts as to where we are in America on political correctness. What the hell has that got to do with racism??
Sorry, I didn't think that 'political correctness' was off topic from the faux paw that Wallen pulled off.
Clearly, they have an agenda to push forward so we can't rely on them to solve this problem. How do we, the people, work together to find something mutually agreeable?
