There's not a professional analyst anywhere on the planet that agrees with those figures. In fact it's the kind of dramatic overstatement that you'd expect to hear the paid by the hour Russian trolls/propagandists we regularly hear from on this forum. Official estimates of Russian KIA figures realistically exceed 100,000 by a significant margin. Casualties on the the other hand? Yes could easily exceed 700,000 but that's simply because combat casualties in modern wars are some multiple of between 2 and 13 (again according to official estimates) of combat deaths with the multiple varying according to specific conditions.

In this war? Given Russia's initial lack of proper planning, preparation and training going in and the tactics it's subsequently been forced to employ on the battlefield due to equipment losses and other issues? That multiple will almost certainly be towards the higher end of that scale. But 700,000 KIA? No, not anywhere close to that. And that figure is significant because somewhere between 10-30% of those casualties will not be fit for service after they recover.

 

I wonder how that would go. I don't think he would have Congressional support to cut them off. Come to think of it, I wonder who will control the House and Senate. That could make a big difference.

It's not about what you 'hear' it's about what hard analysis tells you. If I believed everything I heard (especially on this forum) then the Russians would have been in control of Kiev more than a year ago.

The analysis of most western observers with expertise in this field is that Russia's losses (KIAs) are far less than what was claimed in the original post or by you just now i.e. about 100,000 to 150,000 KIA max. As for North Korean troops? There's only sporadic reports of actual direct contact with them by Ukrainian forces since news sources first started reporting they'd been sent to Russia. And according to those reports? There's only been about 13,000 NK troops deployed so far. (At least that's the figure I've seen South Korea sources claim.) So if I were to believe your statement In short Apparently most of that first deployment have been killed in the first month!

The figures your reporting simply aren't supported by independent (non-Ukrainian) sources who have no reason to minimize Russia's casualty figures and who actually still support Ukraine's cause. Ukrainian sources on the other hand? Have every reason to exaggerate their claims, in fact almost as much as Russia does!

Last point? Don't overlook total casualty figures for each side as opposed to just deaths. If Russia has in fact lost about 120,000 KIA since the war started and total casualty figures are as is to be expected multiples of that number? Then something like 500,000 to 700,000 plus Russians have been injured in the fighting since the war began. Even if only 20% of that figure were wounded seriously enough to no longer be combat effective? That's still another 120,000 or more soldiers who have been knocked out of the fight. And remember Russia started the invasion war with only about 400,000 or so soldiers to begin with (because Putin didn't order a reserve mobilization before invading Ukraine. And even then not all of that starting figure were deployed in the invasion force because Putin originally expected to simply roll over any resistance and be in control of Ukraine within a few weeks! So basically? At a minimum about 2/3 of Russia's original prewar army has been lost already - and it could be more. And that's without using grossly exaggerated claims for KIA that would appear to be pure propaganda!
