Great way for her to gain some time on those HSC tests and get some extra attention from her folks at the same time... I believe it was all just a hoax

You think she did it herself? I don't know if I believe that. She must be a brilliant little actress then.

Well the cops have taken her computer and stuff looking for evidence so i would say that she must know more than she has let on thus far.

After reading more about the case, I think its likely she did it to herself. She got someone to tie it around her neck and write the note.

The note that was written referenced a book called Tai Pan, and that book happens to be on the reading list of a school that many of Maddie's friends attend.

    So the plot thickens...

Strangly enough, all the pictures I have seen of her since her 'ordeal' don't seem like a scared and traumatised young girl. Instead, they seem like she's glad to have the cameras on her.

I predict it won't be long before charges are laid. The link between the book and the two schools is too important to ignore.

I'd be willing to give her, and her Mum, a pearl necklace.

The one person who should know is the constable who was with her at the time ...she would know, after observing her demeanour throughout the whole
gig...I am leaning towards the same opinion as other posters...

I will go against the consensus here. Her expression may be a nervous reaction. I guess in these cases when something sounds so far-fetched, we're inclined not to believe... but peculiar strange things DO happen... so I will give her the benefit first.

I along with you are more prepared to wait for the investigation to discover the truth of the issue rather than condemn her from media speculation. A photograph taken at the right time can appear to anyone to be of smug guilt. Trial by media is not a good thing at all.

Yeah, heres a couple more photos taken "at the right time" of Madeleine shopping with her fellow rich elite students shortly after her ordeal.

I hope they throw the book at her but they wont because of her familys wealth and privelege.

Is there any possibility that the photographer actually took hundreds of photos, and then discarded all the ones that showed her upset or not so happy? Answer: yes.

I have no idea what happened to the girl, however, I'm not going to be conned by the media trial. Being 'rich' and/or 'elite' isn't a crime.

I'll wait to see what the official police investigation uncovers: if they say it was a hoax, I'll accept that finding.

So, IF you are right you can then proclaim to the world "I told you so" if you are wrong you can also say ' sorry, I was wrong'. Do you expect a prize for making the call FIRST?

As for your condemnation of her, that is fine, as long as you are prepared to admit IF she is found to be clear of ANY wrong doing in this issue.

You can choose to ignore my comments, God knows theres plenty of twaddle youve posted that I have ignored. This was in the news and I felt like commenting, get over it.

Nah, dont have to do anything. Save your outrage for someone more worthy.

I'm with Ian. I can't leap to conclusions, but my gut tells me that Maddie is somehow connected to all this. The book being on the reading list of the school her friends attend, for one thing.

I could have, yes, but you did respond to me.
I am not outraged about it, I could agree with your suppositions here. But I am willing to give the benefit of the doubt until something more substantial is presented.

I do not proclaim innocents of this person, but at present I will not condemn her either. I would hope, though, that you are wrong when you muse that she would be let off, because of her families wealth will be wrong IF she is found to be involved in anyway of deception in this matter.

I guarantee you that she will have a highly priced psychiatrist to tell the court on her behalf that she has some sort of complicated psychological syndrome caused by something like lack of parental attention and due to her families position in society she would at very high risk if she went to prison, then she will get probation and or community service. There are very few wealthy people in prison. I have no problem with posting my judgement of her because it matters not one whit to her case what I say here on a discussion forum. Im not calling for her to be dumped in Sydney Harbour inside a chaff bag either.

You hit the nail on the head, exactly why Im here attempting to elicit opinion on subjects I normally could care less about. The pushbikes been waiting at the back door all day.

Id prefer Bali at this time of year but missed out on the cheap tickets.

She'll be as attention seeking as the Saint Kilda schoolgirl.
