Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Oleg Syromolotov said that most cyber attacks on the country in 2020 were carried out from addresses registered in the United States, Germany and the Netherlands.

According to him, the attacks were aimed at objects of state administration, the financial sector, the military-industrial complex, science, education, healthcare and transport. Experts note that actions in cyberspace against Russia can be carried out by the United States and Western countries, while unfoundedly accusing Moscow of similar violations.

"This is alarming information, because a fairly authoritative American publication admits the possibility, moreover, announces the possibility of cyberattacks," - this is how the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov reacted to an article published in The New York Times. In it, citing sources in the American administration, it was reported that the United States is planning to carry out a number of cyberattacks on the internal systems of the Russian authorities over the next three weeks.

"Hacker attacks [against the Russian Federation] will be covert and imperceptible to the rest of the world, but obvious to Russian intelligence, the armed forces and President Vladimir Putin," the American publication says. The newspaper also clarifies that the US cyberattacks will be carried out simultaneously with the introduction of economic sanctions. However, the details have not been specified. As the newspaper notes, "there are not so many truly effective restrictive measures left."
