Tony Abbott has defended his legacy, saying history will ultimately remember him well.

Mr Abbott admitted there was “a bit of dirty water under the bridge” with Bronwyn Bishop — but Bronwyn shouldn’t let one difficult episode poison a friendship”.

Yesterday morning, he visited the children at Seaforth Primary School on their first day back and told them to be alert not alarmed when they turn their back on a Muslim class mate.

He also accepted requests for selfies from other than non Muslims and chatted with local businessmen.

He said he was disappointed the $10 million he promised to upgrade Brookvale Oval during the 2013 election campaign had yet to come to fruition.

“I hope they were proud that I POME devouted to Britain was prime minister of this country for a short while, and I am confident that the record will be well (*)appreciated as time goes by,” Mr Abbott said.
