Death of Stalin is one of those movies I watch over and over again. Steve Buscemi and Jeffery Tambor carried their roles so very well. Both deserve Oscar considerations. Imagine, an absurd society but not to appear comedic in our times. What happened to Beria? Our best memory of him is as Boris Badanov in Rocky & Bullwinkle he was so well, erased. Moi Across an immense, unguarded, ethereal border, Canadians, cool and unsympathetic, regard our America with envious eyes and slowly and surely draw their plans against us.
That was actually a great movie. It played a 1984-ish totalitarian society as an absurdist comedy. Worked perfectly.
I suspect it was more true than not. Absurdity in conduct seems parts of the joys of living in a totalitarian state, such as Hitler's Germany or Stalinist USSR. The "removal" of Beria. True? The NKVD or whatever, vs The Army. And the guiltless, matter o fact manner of "execution". I read one critic claiming the Jeffrey Tambor character was not that wishy washy. But, how do you survive as vice-Stalin under Stalin? Be wishy washy It occurs to me now how "off the radar" this film has been. I'd like to know Putin's opinion of it. Moi
I do believe Putin has access to Western cable channels. Such as Showtime. Some probably believe Putin hacks into them and watches for FREE.
