You think you actually get healthcare from this boondoggle, then I've got a bridge i can sell, cheap! ;)

All this scam has done is fleece the taxpayers, piss off doctors, and corrupt the public sector even more.

Are people suddenly living longer, with better quality of living? Scams always appeal to the something-for-nothing crowd, and it is the lure to bring them in.

Thanks to Obamacare, I finally got coverage for several years. Hadn't had it before and it is good to get my bills paid, just like they are for those who work for Fortune 500 companies and get their coverage subsidized by taxpayers.

Obamacare was good for me as it was for MILLIONS of Americans.

If anyone has any specific questions on how the ACA really works just ask. I am an expert on the subject. One standout fact is that this law set out to insure the supposed 32 million uninsureds and 7 years later, officially there are still 30 million uninsureds, (if anyone would do an honest study and include all those that used to have employer based insurance and now don't or those that make too much money for a subsidy the true number of uninsured may now be in excess of 60 million) and for those insured, costs have gone up 300% out of pocket maximums have gone up 300% and thousands of drugs have moved to unaffordable copays. This is success? What has this law actually accomplished? Prior to the law 36 states had uninsured pools so no one could be turned down for pre-ex conditions, that still left 14 to go and 9 were on the cusp of getting that done. But what the hell, let's hurry up and get a national health plan like England so the state can decide which babies live or die. Get on the band wagon people.

The Uninsured Rate Is Worsening After Years Of Obamacare’s Gains
Trump’s sabotage of Obamacare seems to be having predictable consequences.

    https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/uninsured-rate-worsens_us_5af22859e4b0a0d601e7850e

The uninsured rate is creeping back up.

After several years of dramatic declines in the percentage of Americans who lack health insurance ― a direct result of the Affordable Care Act’s coverage provisions ― the trend is beginning to reverse, according to new data the polling firm Gallup and digital health company Sharecare published Wednesday.

The share of Americans without health insurance rose to 12.2 percent last year, up from 10.9 percent at the end of 2016. The 2016 figure was the lowest Gallup recorded since tracking the uninsured rate in 2008. The low uninsured rate two years ago represented a decline of nearly 7 percentage points from 2013, the year before the Affordable Care Act’s Medicaid expansion and subsidies for private health insurance came online and the year with the highest rate in Gallup’s polling history.

What’s more, the uninsured rate increased in 17 states last year, and it was the first year since 2014 that at least one state didn’t experience a decline in those without health insurance, Gallup and Sharecare report.

Uh...what you just wrote proves that it is Obamacare that is failing, Trump and the Republicans have done nothing to affect the numbers you talk about. Obamacare itself continues to ramp up the cost and the out of pocket for insurance so people simply cannot or will not afford it. The law itself adds new mandatory coverages and increases in out of pocket costs each year, guaranteeing rate increases. GUARANTEEING RATE INCREASES. Obamacare is eating itself.

I have a good idea on that one. We just skip the debate and move on to a National Healthcare Service - as exists in Europe.

Why not? The results in Europe are so much better than in the US!

    Amen to that.

Oh by the way, where are the Republicans on this forum to hold Dump to his campaign promise that everyone would be covered under his regime?

The Health Care issue, and a great many other political issues could easily be resolved by offering a 1 way ticket to any EU country of their choosing to all who support EU style Health Care, along with a small sum of cash not to exceed $10,000 including the cost of the ticket.

The idiocy of American healthcare insurance can be seen clearly in the above comment.

That is, for as long as the "Insurance Business" decides the conditions of healthcare-insurance it is going to cost an arm-and-a-leg (pun intended!) in the US. HEALTHCARE IS NOT A BUSINESS! IT IS A PUBLIC SERVICE!

And the result will continue to be thus:

    WHYZAT?

From this OECD-pdf here is why: Health Care at a Glance, 2017

    And,

Funny post. European countries would today be under communist regimes if it had not been for the USA taxpayer financed Marshall Plan. There would be no need to travel there if the government employed this same type of socialist remedy for its citizens here the way it did for those Europeans and continues to do for Israelis.

That promise was null&void ten seconds after he uttered it.

The man and his government are a shame to America. That had elected by means of the popular-vote Hillary Clinton and not Donald Dork to the presidency.

But that is another sad-story right out of American history as if the Constitution had been signed yesterday, and not more than two centuries ago when we knew nothing whatsoever about how a tripartite governance (Executive, Legislative and Judicial) should work.

Moreover, there are damn few nations on earth who "trick" elections by means of Gerrymandering and an Electoral College that does not reflect identically the democratic popular-vote.

May God help America in this dire hour of need ...

(No one else can or will ...)

in your case the more patriotic sort of our society will make an exception - you are free to buy into whatever snake oil, charlatanism, or other phoniness so as to improve your health:

that's what happens when you don't have regulation of food & medicines - but hell, it's your health

I live in a country that is "over-regulated" (compared to the US) - France. Most of Europe is highly-regulated. But, believe me, regulation has its benefits.

When it comes to Health, there is no such thing as "over-regulation" to protect the common good.

Besides, what is killing Americans is a non-disease called "Obesity". It has affected more than half the population, and remains the prime reason that your average lifespan is four years less than mine. See for yourself:

Oh, btw, yours also costs per capita twice as much as mine from a National Healthcare Service as established throughout the European Union ....

Food and drug safety regulation has nothing at all to do with my post, but I'm sure you knew that.

Did you bother to read your own question?

Quote: Why do you want government involved in my health care?

Government regulation in such matters improves health. But if you don't want it, fine. Go ahead ~ like we say in Brooklyn, "eat sh.t and die" if that's what you want.
