That is just your opinion, as faulty as it is. Clinton is the only president to be subpoenaed to appear as a sitting president under oath before a grand jury. Quit searching for stupid little faulty loopholes.

If you don't like the theory and philosophy of serving the president, think of the practicalities. Who would have served the subpoena? US Marshals? How would they get passed the white house gate? Or if the president was out and about, how would they get passed the secret service? I can see the headlines now: Secret Service kills US Marshals as they try to inflict harm on the president. Or what if the president just dumped it into the wastebasket? Is some judge going to complain that that was a naughty thing to do? Or will the judge send the US Marshals, again, to arrest, cuff the president, and cart him to the judges court? LOL. Good luck with that. Now we would have a dozen dead marshals and a blown up paddy wagon to boot.

Do you have any clue why the DOJ has said twice that the president cannot be indicted? It is because the president is only one person who can constitutionally be commander in chief and the head on the Executive branch of the government. It would upset the entire purpose of the constitution if a lawyer somewhere could just take the president out with a piece of paper signed by some guy who sits around in a black robe. If you think that is what the framers -- in their wildest imagination -- had in mind, you have another think coming.

What actually happened is he was subpoenaed. He had every expectation the subpoena would be enforced which is why he agreed to testify. Anything else is just spin.

 

Examine the Bill Clinton matter. Democrats prevented Clinton from being convicted in his impeachment trial. By the way, so did several republicans.

The differences as succinctly pointed n the DOJ opinion is the president is one person and the only person authorized to carry out the executive branch of the government. A federal judge is one of about a thousand. Few would notice missing one judge for a while. Missing the president for a while would destroy the country.
