Nobody convinced Bush or Cheney of anything. The fix was in from the beginning. Mueller provided justification. The Bush Administration had made up their minds to attack Iraq days after 9/11. Not so much W. who much like Trump did not really have a good grasp of foreign policy or what people in his own administration like Cheney, Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz really had in mind. If sincerely interested you should actually read the PNAC, particularly the addendum on "Rebuilding America's Defenses." I know Trump supporters don't like to read stuff but the reason they want war is all in there. If you want to put it into today's terms, what do they gain from economic war against Iran or Venezuela?
