.....with the government turning a blind eye. These inbred throwbacks add nothing to any civilized society.

Christians make up a sizeable portion of the population in Lebanon and enjoy freedom of religion. While the percentage is smaller in Turkey, the government officially is sectarian and people are free to practice their religion as well.

And they are worried of going the way of the other countries.
And while they are at 39%, the number steadily dropped over the last 50 years.
    It was 84%.
The Christians have their own armed militas.

I think the difference is in what they can do.
Christians are protected in Lebanon, so if the people attack them, they are breaking the law.
    The militias can kill them.

militias kill in the USA as well - Republican Timothy McVeigh is one such example ~ to this day we have yet to find any of the enemies he imagined in his twisted mind

    That's a crappy example.
We are speaking of a militia in the form of an active police force.

McVie was not in a militia.
at least he didn't act on the orders of one.
    Only 2 went to jail.

Obviously, you do not know the subject well enough as McVeigh was inspired by the fictional book Turner Diaries which was used as inspiration by militia types many of whom view themselves as police as well.

I know he read the Turner Diaries, so did I.
He was not acting in a militia though.
He and the other arrested with him, were lone wolves.

Earl Turner was only one person as was his hero Hitler. IIRC one of the main themes was that it all starts with one.

    So what.

    It's a friggin novel. that's all.

I don't even know how we got on this.
It has nothing to do with militias in Lebanon, and their purposes.

If we behaved sensibly only in response to others behaving sensibly, then we'd all be stuck in downwards spirals at all times. That's particularly problematic if not everyone among the "other side" agree with one another. There are plenty of Muslims who don't hold historic grudges, but who react negatively to your behaviour if you presume they will hold historic grudges.

In a way, you're right. But multiculturalism create unnecessary tensions. Why do we need to deal with the tensions between the native and the new comers when you can just have no migrants.
