my idea for dealing with the migrant crisis on US southern border

    The US could build a low cost camp on the Mexican side of the border, and pay the Mexican government to administer it.

    That way the migrants would have somewhere to wait for several months without being on US soil.
    The costs of this camp would probably be far cheaper because the costs of living in Mexico are much cheaper, and the camp would not require as much security because if the migrants left the camp, they would just be in Mexico, rather than being able to easily escape in the US.

    It would also completely avoid the touchy issue of pregnant migrants giving birth on US soil, and all the complications that causes.

    Not a bad idea, and the Mexicans might go for it if we paid all the costs, but the House would never fund it. They want those folks rushing the border.

    I wonder if there's some way to be able to fund it through private donations.

    Then later, under a different government, those donors could possibly be reimbursed, and it would be treated as if it had been a loan.
