Interesting! Someone who has seen both sides of the issue in a way most people have not. Could someone in his position help tone down the debate?

I see he’s a police chief, in other words, pandering to his politician boss that appointed him to the position to do/say as he’s told.

Yeah well, if that guy wants to know why blacks are being killed by cops, all he needs to do is to look at the numbers. Why aren't unarmed young asian women being gunned down by cops? Because they aren't out there being violent.

If blacks don't want to be profiled, then they're living in some fairy tale. In the real world, everybody profiles.

So if he shoots himself it would be no surprise?

"I’ve been racially profiled by the police. I’ve experienced discrimination in both my personal and professional life"

Now, rightwingers will have a problem with this one. The cop-lover in them says defend him.
The hatred for blacks in them says "he needs to stop complaining because profiling doesn't exist".

Which side will they choose? Stay tuned!

Progressives are walking on some pretty shaky ground when they say "racial profiling is racist".

    Because racial profiling works.

So if it's racist to use statistics to make likelyhood predictions, then they just said that racism is an accurate view of reality.

Take the word racist out of it and view it in the real world.

If I'm walking down the sidewalk and I see a lion or tiger walking my direction, you betchya I'm going to move away and get the hell outta there. I won't wait around to find out if it is tame.

In my younger years I was profiled by cops for the vehicle I drove. Young guys driving hot looking cars had a reputation for speeding and I knew that. We earned our reputation. Blacks are profiled because of their reputation. They should know that and stop complaining. Or they could work to improve their reputations.

He's a former Police Chief (retired). Your "Conspiracy Theory" is debunked.

I keep asking why the only response the right makes to anything they don't like is always a Conspiracy Theory.

No one's saying every cop is out there to get you, but let's not act like there isn't that one who's just looking to arrest someone for something stupid or pull the trigger because they feel like it.

What “conspiracy theory”? I pointed out the obvious, though I missed that he was retired. The point remains, police brass do not face the same reality that patrol officers/deputies do on a daily basis. Their goal is to play the political game and move up the promotional ladder (captain and above)

The “retired chief” for example cites unarmed men AND WOMEN of color being shot by the cops, can anyone remember when was the last time a woman was shot by the cops for anything?

Also, “unarmed” isn’t a guaranteed way to not get shot. See Michael “Gentle Giant” Brown as an example of being extremely stupid or a way to commit suicide by cop.

“Unarmed” is what the news media and the democrats (wtf is the difference?) call this BS. Not cops.

    Troll on.

No you didn't. You made up a Conspiracy Theory in which he supposedly panders to his boss. It's as "obvious" as the Government faking the Lunar Landing or Observatories hiding the existence of extraterrestrials....

One common element in all Conspiracy Theories is that they are always described as "obvious" by their promoters, which they feel allows them to wiggle out of explaining how.

Another elements of Conspiracy Theories: everybody has underlying nefarious motivations. Nobody who participates in the fabricated "conspiracy" can be honest.

Yes. The strawman argument can never be absent from a conspiracy theory. Focusing on an irrelevant element allows the conspiracy theorist to attempt to hide their lack of real arguments regarding the real argument. There have certainly been women of color (I remember a Pregnant woman last year, and another this year who was shot during a traffic stop, for example). But even if it weren't so it makes absolutely no difference to his point.

One more element of any conspiracy theory: bringing up an isolated incident as if it were a general rule to avoid the paint. Which is that balcks are more likely to be shot at if they don't comply with the orders of the police than whites are.

Of course... the news media and the democrats.. Who else would perpetuate such (fabricated) "conspiracy"

For anybody who still needs examples of how the Right is completely incapable of making any argument whatsoever without fabricating a Conspiracy Theory, here is just one more example....

I could have simply pointed out that the source where this garbage was published is the Huffing and Puffing Post, a place with a rabid out of the closet anti cop agenda, among other garbage.

"Rabid anti-cop agenda" or not, if the only response you can come up with is an attack on the "messenger', and are incapable of addressing the message, then your response has no value and is just a waste of time.
