    First time I knew the definition of cinerama. A lot of professional tricks have been used to give us more bang for the dollar.

    I worked for a construction company for years as a young guy. We finished driving piling for the day and I told one guy on the crew I planned to drive up the road some miles to see what we could locate exploring. Getting gasoline for my car, I spied a very nice motor coach. I had not seen one previously. it was custom built for Vic Morrow. The driver told me and let me peek inside of it. Wondering why this actor would be around I asked of course. Driver told me how to get into the movie filming site. Talk about watching sausage made. It pretty much ruined it for me and I started to figure out why a lot of actors do not like watching their own movie.

    When we see a movie, we see the polished version. Editing is done. I saw them filming in very brief frames of action.

    Morrow was sitting on one of those actors chairs. Those too high for a kitchen table. Cloth bottom. His name on the back. He was intently reading the San Francisco financial part of the paper. He carried it behind his back while filming one scene and the camera did not see it. The director treated him like royalty and did not tell him to drop the paper.

    I did not talk to him. I did talk for a moment with one of the lesser actors. I frankly was nervous of talking out of fear i would get told to leave.

    I watched 2 scenes and bailed out. I was told how actors make money for doing various things. Laying down on the ground means so many dollars. I don't recall the schedule but I got the gist of how they make over basic pay.
    So if you see an actor getting in the rain, that costs more than were it on a dry day.

    Combat was not nearly as interesting as it had been.

    A precursor to Panavision { used in the filming of Ben-Hur }
    Cinerama was first introduced at New York's 1939 World's Fair as
    Vitarama and at the time the process involved 11
    projectors.
    Polyvision dated back to 1927.
    With Cinerama and it's exploitation came such techniques as
    Cinemiracle
    Thrillerama
    Wonderama
    Disney's Circarama
    Quadravision and the technically inferior Soviet system
    Kinopanorama

    Viv Morrow and his TV Drama - Combat - was very poplular.
    I think Morrow personally held a grudge of sorts like the character
    he played in his last role on Earth.
    - Twilight Zone : The Movie -. His character seems ticked off at
    everything and everyone. He dies while the filming of the Helicopter
    scene. The scuttlebutt has it he was decapitated by the Helicopter blade.
    Morrow was also a negligent father. He ignored as much as possible
    the talents of a young Jennifer Jason Leigh { daughter }.

    He was beheaded, that is true. I was around the set for maybe an hour or just over and it was nice to see how tv movies are made. The director seemed very young to me to be a director. The director barked orders at the actors. When he talked to Morrow, it was as if Morrow was his boss. I believe many tv flicks change directors often. I spent time trying to find the episode where I saw this American, Ollie ... consoling a German solder lying on the ground near death. Morrow seemed sympathetic but told Ollie to move out. To set it up, the director had his idea what the scene should look like. So he called the actors over and moved them here or there as they prepared the ground for the fallen German. Strange how they made sure his comfort on the ground was taken care of. I recall them going to a flat bed truck with branches, etc on it and getting some to create the scene he wanted. When done, guys grabbed the branches and put them back onto the truck bed.

    Funny thing is Vic Morrow had a girlfriend. The Director told them to film a scene and thought he accidently got her Cadillac Convertible in the bit. So he told the actors to do it again. I had not noticed the car until he pointed it out.

    I did not know Leigh was his daughter.

    The actors on the set between takes acted very goofy. As if they were bored and had to cut up to stay interested.
    Morrow acted sane though. I believe the actor that talked to me a bit was the guy playing the medic.

    If you watch a majority of Morrow early roles he acted a lot
    like Dennis Hopper. And also Martin Sheen.Juvenile Delinquent roles.
    All 3 excelled at that typecast. In fact, those three plus Bruce Dern defined
    that sort of typecast as being pivotal in their careers.
    Whereas guys like Steve McQueen in real life WERE juvenile
    delinquents.McQueen was a car thief as a Kid.
    Robert Mitchum { very disagreeable when he got older } was also
    in trouble a lot.

    James Dean was sort of an Intellectual actor. If anything Marlon Brando
    was much closer to being a Motorcycle Gang leader - The Wild Ones -
    Than Dean. But again ... in real Life Dean rode motorcycles and also loved
    cars.Like Steve McQueen ... definatly no Intellectual as far as studying
    acting.Marlon Brando was my Hero as a Kid in high school.Him and Bill Cosby.
    Brando was more interested in chasing chicks and eating.Brando loved
    steak and eggs almost anytime of day.And Cheseburgers. He was once asked
    about his girth. He said he'll eventually lose the weight as all older men do.
    At the Height of Brandos newfound *stardom The Duke { John Wayne }
    made a very disparaging snide remark about the size of Brando's butt.
    This was in the Mid 50's and Brando was a rising star and Wayne was in
    Middle age.I can't remember the snide remark.I'll try and get it.

    I did not realize Morrow was beheaded. What a strange way to die. Jane Mansfield was beheaded also.

    On acting " Philosophies include believing in content as opposed to
    style and sincerity rather than intelligence. " { Which I must admit I
    don't understand what he meant }. Acting is not like being on a debate
    team.Name this famous,short actor.

    Described by a B-Movie starlet as :
    " A typical Irish Catholic male ; hard drinking , chauvinistic , funny as hell,
    but with the insecurities of a child. "

    Funny ... back to this. Today i was checking out Janet Leigh and the bio credited Vic Morrow as her father. I was taught this days ago by Foolardi. Thanks guy or gal.

    Jane did lose her head in the auto accident. When first reported, shortly after she got killed, it was then as hard to accept as today. She has a famous daughter that acts. Last name is Hargitay.

    Vic was close to Los Angeles and a helicopter was above him. It came down and his head was removed. I am thinking a child on the site also got killed.

    I think the job as an actor keeps you insecure until you manage to earn real money.
    I dunno who you mean. This is a lousy way for me to pass time since I simply never wanted to keep knowing much about actors.

    The B-list actress was a late 50's hottie.
    She made headlines a few years ago when it was discovered
    she was mummified. She really never made it in movies except for a
    few neato sci-fi and el creepo flicks. She became a recluse and
    lived in a house somewhere in Los Angeles that was in ill-repair.
    Her body became discovered after about a year in the house after
    she kicked-off.It was her Boyfriend/Actor who would never marry her
    but had a long time affair.

    Everybody but everybody knows his famous TV show and also
    his voice. No ... Not Alfred Hitchcock.
    The 2 men were polar opposites in physical appearance and
    facial looks.

    My worthless opinion of the day...I admire those actors, and my personal list is quite short, who not only portray a role but actually seem to become the person they're playing, and that requires being able to play characters so diametrically opposed and yet you don't realize it's the same person performing...eg, Rod Steiger's Gillespie and Mr. Joyboy...I could name a few others but yours are probably more interesting....

    Rod Steiger had a strange Movie career. He was perfectly cast as
    Terry Malloy's older brother Charlie The Gent.Johnny Friendly's { Lee J.Cobb |
    right hand man on the Waterfront.
    I never liked - The Illustrated Man - { 1969 }
    I try to watch - The Pawnbroker - { 1964 } every couple years or so.
    I highly recommend the creepy movie - No Way to Treat a Lady - { 1968 }
    where he plays a crafty serial killer.
    Of course - In the Heat of the Night - { 1967 }.
    I never got the chance to watch his - Marty - { 1953 } the TV version.
    I think that role deservedly went to Ernest Borgnine who was a better
    actor than he ever got credit for.
    His bully scene the same year { 1955 } in - Bad Day at Black Rock -
    going up against a great Spencer Tracy vehicle is memorable.
    Both Steiger and Borgnine did - Marty - and both actors were
    very good in - Jubal - { 1956 } a year later.
    Steiger also had a nice role in the European crime caper - Seven Thieves - {1960}

    She has starred with those like Kirk Douglas and Warren beatty.
    Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon. And { hint hint } a horror movie with
    William Holden { The Golden Boy }.
    She is more accustomed in playing roles as an older woman to
    younger men looking to appear as if part of some Men's club.
