Toronto has shut down for the Rap's parade. The team can't get to City Hall because of the crowds. Its running 3 hours behind schedule so far. Seems the Raps on the bus with Kwai are all chanting "five more years" and "MVP". Apparently they all want him to resign. Unbelievable crowds and massive party. Huge boost for bball in Canada and especially in Toronto. The Raps have done a great job developing the local high school system and its only going to get better from here. Win win all the way around up here. We The North. PS. congrats and condolences to GS. Hope Durant recovers.
Toronto has to re -sign Kawhi. They will never have a better chance to repeat than next year with GSW missing KD and Klay.
Yep. the stars will have to align once again. I like the chances to sign him, but like he says the Raps "let him do what he does" and if that is going somewhere else, well then, he'll always be King of the North and Toronto Royalty.
If Butler stays, I can see Philly winning it ...or Denver or Portland. If Toronto is smart, they'd let Kawhi walk. Then just, pray, and hope Lowry Powell Pascal & Van Vleet all keep some NBA Finals ice in their, veins, for the next few years. Ibaka and Gasol are a lock. This championship has many asterisks and does not deserve full credit, IMHO, since Toronto just beat a team which is on 5 months rest over the past 25 months. Kawhi had 14 months of rest, over the past 25 months. Next June 2020 Kawhi won't have that colossal, rest advantage, which he had over his foes this season. And please consider too that I never even counted how he took off, over a quarter of this season, as well. Yes he missed 22 games this season. That's nearly 30% of the season just, resting, so he's fresh for the playoffs.
As expected, KD opts out. The most likely scenario: Re-sign with Warriors for five years and $221 million This move keeps the Warriors’ dynasty alive, as well as Durant’s pockets. Yes, Durant has already made life-changing money both on-and-off the court, and his next contract will do nothing more than pad his pockets. But the Warriors can give Durant a five-year, $221 million deal on account of this being Durant’s 10th year of service. (For reference, that’s exactly how much the Hornets can offer in a supermax deal for Kemba Walker.) Other teams can only offer Durant four years and $164 million. That’s precisely $77 million Durant would leave on the table if he chose to join a new team.
Durant is unhappy with Warriors for putting him back the court earlier this month, when he was reinjured. He won't be resigning there.
