The NBA sold out to China. They finally got rid of "Enes Freedom" the new American Citizen Patriot that denounces China openly to the detriment of his own career. It was predicted. We need more like him to take to task the CEO sellouts of Corporations like Nike and others. It takes a deal of courage against almost insurmountable odds!

A long time ago, I use to enjoy watching the Seattle Sonics play and went to quite a few games in Seattle, but the NBA has morphed into such a disgusting bunch of Anti American hate mongers that they've become unwatchable. I really wish America would just boycott this awful league and teach these Idiots a lesson.

I was never crazy about NFL to begin with and then when they started that kneeling stuff it was very easy to say I really don't care now.

I've cared about the NBA even less.... Those poor spoiled oppressed Rich Little brats...

From the link: This guy is brave. He’s calling out China’s abuses despite the NBA making millions and millions over there. And now it’s cost him.

You cannot have a player taking this stance. Too much money involved. And that speaks volumes about the NBA.

That said, spend your time and money where you deem fit.

Did you know this guy, besides speaking out, wore basketball shoes depicting the abuses in China? We knew his career would come to an end, but I hope he continues to call American Corps. to task. It is disgusting what we have become in this country! Lecturing our citizens about a feigned "systematic racism", while at the same time pledging our support for companies dealing in Communist China SLAVE LABOR! [IMG]

"Hypocrite nike"? He has his freedom of speech, but probably not the smartest thing to do in any athletic league in the US considering the depth of Nike's influence in all sports in the US. Did his protest effect Nike sales? He is not that great at picking his battles and forum, guy cant even go back to his country of origin he is outspoken - NATO member Turkey. His protest produced nothing there either, actually produced the same outcome which was no change in policy and a ban/target on his back.

Correct you are. I think all of us knew what it would come to. Some of us are a little inspired by his sacrifice and pretty perturbed about the indifferece of others. My hope would be that he would stay here (he did get his citizenship) and become a spokesman. Some of my buddies think he would do quite well playing for a European team. He is pretty good. Nike is happy to have government subsidized slave labor to make their shoes and a lot of players are just fine wearing them. The NBA used to be real big in support of the Marxist BLM movement. Go figure.

But think about it. You have black people who are practically held captive in long-term contracts, and they can be sold off to other teams in other parts of the country without a say in the matter. They have to do whatever their masters tell them. Can be fined out of their own salary if they say anything politically incorrect.

These athletes may be earning hundreds of thousands a year but this is still like the modern-day version of slavery. If you keep up with all the in-detail news about the NBA you'll see how utterly controlled the players are, even in their personal lives and what political/social messages they are allowed to express.

The NBA has a monopoly on basketball, so it's not like these players can just go somewhere else if they want and continue their careers.

In fact the entire NBA is like a little microcosm of Progressive Leftism, with people having to trade their freedom to maintain their privilege.

Their lives sound almost as sheltered as a Chinese athlete at the Olympics in front of the cameras.

He will probably stay in the US, Turkey possibly wants him extradited so there could be problems for him in certain European locations(I'm under the impression he was part of a movement or group that Turkey considers a terrorist organization + he publicly criticized Erdogan). Oh, and looking a little more, the logo for the Euroleague literally refers to Turkish airlines and Istabul is represented by a team in the league as well(He cant travel to TURKEY). He could go to China considering they pay better, but it looks like he has burned to many bridges with his politics to play anywhere, possibly including the US.

Thats being a little dramatic, these guys make great pay for what they do and usually have extra income from endorsements of some kind. Nobody makes you sign a contract, all sports teams make you sign a contract for several reasons. The NBA does not have a monopoly on basketball and they can go other places to play at this point. Europe and Asia have leagues that pay better than what most people make annually with a good degree, and those location also come with extra endorsements along with tax breaks.

I could start a whole separate thread discussion about all of the stupid seemingly trivial things NBA players are fined, punished, disciplined and suspended over - even off the basketball court. It's a very controlling environment.

In recent times players have faced long suspensions just for saying things, and that was in what is supposed to be their own personal free time when they are not working.

That is sad. We are in a trap I'd like to get out of. Buy American at every chance. Our leaders allowed this to happen. This is why I detest the establishment Republicans as well as all Democrats!
