New ‘mu’ COVID-19 variant now found in 49 US states

Since being discovered in Colombia in January, the mu variant of COVID-19 has spread to nearly four dozen countries and has made its presence known in Hawaii and Alaska. It has so far been found in 49 states with Nebraska being the only state to not have a mu variant case detected.

Health officials believe mu is even more transmissible than the delta variant and has the potential to resist vaccines.

Fun times... So apparently we are will just live in a perpetual "this variant is way more contagious than the prior variant".

If the cases are becoming more contagious, however less lethal, maybe it's time to let natural immunity take place and quit trying to vaccinate something that can't be vaccinated?

 

That's essentially what happened to the "Spanish Flu." It became less deadly and part of our seasonal flu cycle. We will probably wind up just living with covid. Some of us will get yearly boosters along with our usual flu shots, and others will... not, I guess.

 

As it becomes less deadly, it hopefully becomes less politicized and more medical in nature. Of course, fear porn sells but this one's run its course on fear porn.

 

Unfortunately, COVID has become a great political tool and spending, controlling and solidifying power.

 

Damn, Biden is completely screwing COVID management up big time. He has blood on his hands.

His entire Presidency, he's had the benefit of vaccines while telling people last year not to trust the vaccines.
Fauci is still employed, which is a complete abortion of justice.

Biden is living up to Obama's expectation of him - a complete foul-up.

Provided that even happens which is by no means a guarantee. Its just as likely a mutation defeats existing vaccines and we go back to the drawing board for a years worth of research except now we're facing a more contagious version that will either have the same or possibly higher death rate. I wonder what the math looks like for total collapse. How many would it have to kill for America to fail do you think? 1 in 20, 1 in 10? I don't think it would take much. I think if we had a somewhat prolonged shortage of just one vital element, gas or beef or toilet paper, that we'd have total anarchy. We are so weak both as a country and as a people that it just wont take much for us to shatter.

 

Many suspect this thing will be endemic, which means it'll be like the common cold, etc eventually. I think a big part of the picture here is the asymptomatic thing, which all of a sudden for some strange reason isn't mentioned by the mainstream media. If we hold their stories straight(for once.) People may have been asymptomatic carriers of the virus, being sick without knowing it and passing/clearing it out without knowing it. How many of these people thereby didn't go to the hospital, how many of them have immunity even now?

We don't have a quantifiable answer to that, and without that quantifiable answer, the idiot's mandate is about as stupid as he is.

 

I don't think its conceptually stupid but logistically I see several obvious flaws.

1. It doesn't recognize, much less address, the fact that 50+ million illegal immigrants are COVID spreaders just like like the rest of us.
2. I find it difficult to believe they can even enforce this given there is no secure database nor way to confirm vaccination status.
   
3. Its a half assed job. Where is the damn mask mandate? Vaccines and masks, this is a combination and we're only doing half. Its like these people want COVID to endure and get worse. WHERES THE ****ING MASK MANDATE JOE YOU SENILE DUMBASS? God, just makes me so angry.

yep, some say Trump wanted the virus to spread and the reason Trump shutdown the economy is that he knew the economy was failing, and the only way for him to inject trillions into the mega corps was to use the virus crisis to do so, if that did not work, he would blame it on the virus, win\win either way as far as Trump was concerned

One of the primary effects of the virus is it exposes tyrannical authoritarians, try as science may, the vaccine can't erase that symptom.

Most federal workers are unionized and the many members of the union I work for are being required to get vaccinated.

 

New variants are going to keep on coming. May as well get used to it. We should be going to war with China over this, instead we are yelling at our neighbors for not wearing a mask.
