SARS variants have been crossing into the human population for a LONG LONG time.

This is the first time that it happened when there existed a lab.

SARS is carried by other animals in the region where there is significant contact with humans. For example pangolin meat is held in super high regard and pangolins are also used in homeopathic medicine.

Yet YOU somehow think that a lab is required!!!

If you found your idea on the internet, I'd like to know where.

The problem with this is that there is no evidence that they did that.

If China's intent was to spread COVID, it's pretty dang stupid of them to do it by infecting CHINA.

Plus, regardless of all that, what you suggest just makes it more important for us to form a strong relationship with that lab.

Insulting China, the country, its people, and those who have any physical resemblance is how you drive a wedge that blocks what WE need to do while encouraging the kind of white supremacist attacks on Americans that Trump inspired with his IGNORANT rhetoric.

There is an abundance of evidence. The WIV was taking Cororona viruses and modifying them with spike proteins and testing them on humanized mice. We have video of Daszak saying how easily it is done.

There being changes made to the virus does not mean there was gain of function testing.

For example, understanding how this virus attacks humans could reasonably involve making changes and seeing if the virus is still capable of doing so - using modified mice rather than humans, obviously. That would not be a "gain of function" scenario.

China needs to cull the herd. Not a bad way to do it.

Ed Snowden is an American Patriot that exposed the treacherous U.S. governments illegal spying activities on its own citizens and personally sacrificed much to do so. Few men today are brave enough to do what he did. We need more people like him in America.

That's the time of the first recorded crossover to the human population, as I understand it.

Let's remember that scientists have identified 20,000 or so variants of SARS type viruses in bats, pangolins, and other animals in the region.

So, it looks like there have been at least a few that HAVE crossed to humans. But, I don't see anyone suggesting that's the end of this family of viruses crossing to humans.

Why your emphasis on China?? I'm sure you are aware that there are PLENTY of other viruses that have caused serious problems, but have come from other regions.

In fact, the flu pandemic of WWI time frame is thought by many to have originated in Kansas as there is no explanation for how it could have come there from somewhere else. It's called the Spanish flu because the war caused the USA and other European countries to block news of the flu. But, Spain allowed it to be reported.

Did you know they vaccinated the aged last and the young healthy people first? Definitely some culling.

Spanish flu most likely originated in China.
    https://www.history.com/news/china-epicenter-of-1918-flu-pandemic-historian-says

The Asian flu of the late 1950’s was of Chinese origin. As were the Hong Kong flu of ‘68 and the Russian flu of ‘77. As well as the various iterations of plague (bacterial disease).

The emphasis is on China because they have a history of being the source of the most devastating pandemics in recorded history. Viral and bacterial.

Snowden is a Russian mole hiding in his home country, Russia, and is only a "patriot" to other Russian spies.

Ahhh, this is often the response from unpatriotic Americans that gobble up the propaganda lines of the US government.

The Founding Fathers would be proud of what Snowden did, exposing the illegal and unpatriotic spying on Americans by thier government and sacrificing everything in return. Few would sacrifice so much to do such a good deed, you included.

Snowden is a man to be admired by all Patriotic Americans, and should be awarded the medal of freedom because that's what his actions embodied.

    One historian?

The idea of blaming the people and/or government of China for the existence of a pathogen is just about as monumentally stupid and counter productive as can be imagined.

And, let's face the truth. The assault on China made by Trump and others in the US has had NOTHING to do with identifying origins, finding solutions, or protecting against more SARS outbreaks that those already documented. In fact, these actions have made it far harder to address each of those objectives.

It was Snowden who leaked the NSA hacking tools to Russia through a group called the Shadow Brokers claiming they were "cyber weapons" that were used by the NSA to conduct surveillance.
Snowden will always be a traitor to real Americans and a hero to Russian moles.

    Ok, shill.

Snowden exposed the illegal surveillance activities of the NSA to all Patriotic Americans and as a result they were halted. The anti-American NSA was caught with thier hands in the cookie jar.

Snowden is a hero to true Americans and a criminal only to those that support McCarthyistic like spying on American citizens and unjustifiably infringing upon the rights of said citizens.

Oh no. Certainly not just one historian. It’s been hypothesized for many years the virus originated in China based on the Chinese population showing evidence of previous immunity during the 1918 and subsequent outbreaks.
Have I blamed anyone? Discussion of evidence is not blaming anyone. LOL
What do you propose? Asking China to share whatever information they feel we should have and accepting that most pandemics originate there without further researching the reasons why?

Snowden gave the GRU Russian hackers the tools they use for their cyber warfare against America and that has nothing to do with spying on Americans except when Russia spies on Americans so Russia can help the GQP. So you approve of the GRU spying on American citizens, military, and businesses and you have the gall to say the founding fathers would approve of traitor Snowden giving our enemy the tools to do so.

We need to be working with the Wuhan lab on SARS as it is highly important to the entire world.

They are the scientists who know the most about the SARS viruses in nature - the viruses that have found their way into the human population on various documented occasions.

They are the ones who understand local culture and how that culture could make it more possible for pathogens to enter the human population. They understand the cold chain. They understand the markets. Etc.

Our government took multiple IMMEDIATE actions to make that impossible in the near term.

And we would expect what for mollycoddling them? About the same answers the WHO is getting from them?

So we need the expertise of the Chinese? The ones who were responsible for the last outbreak and death of SARS1 by their poor lab safety? Or do we need their expertise on producing effective vaccines for Covid? LOL. Maybe we need their input on how to lock down huge cities to stop spread they can’t stop any other way? Maybe we need their sage advice on prioritizing vaccination for young healthy folks and leaving the aged as last priority?

What is it we need from them? Access to research done in their facilities? Don’t we have that? The only things we don’t have is what they will never give us no matter how much money we give them or how we sweet talk them.

Working with someone toward shared objectives is not "mollycoddling".

You do NOT know whether anyone is "responsible" for this SARS outbreak. So, that whole paragraph is total nonsense.

THEY are the experts in where SARS is, where and how human contact is a vulnerability, what practices and safeguards in China should possibly be put in place, how to ensure that any transmission to humans is rapidly detected and communicated, etc.

Did I REALLY have to say that??

What objectives do you share with China? Be specific. For example—“I share the objective of disseminating timely relevant information to the global community as evidenced by China’s claims there had been no observed human to human transmission of Covid the middle of January 2020”.
Please quote where I’ve said someone is “responsible” for Covid.
What is this expertise? Can you supply any evidence anyone in China knows more about “where SARS is” than anyone else? Where is the evidence they care about transmission to humans? Can you cite any safeguards they use or have used? Maybe an anecdote about how their safeguards saved us all from SARS1.5 or SARS1.75. How about some evidence transmission to humans is communicated to other countries before someone calls a virus a “Chinese virus”. Is their documented lie about human to humans transmission in January 2020 evidence for your claim?
You don’t have to say anything. It’s your choice. Nobody is forcing you to continue to make statements unsupported by any evidence.

I stated several important goals that we share with China and the world. Read my posts.

You have clearly blamed China. China is a people and the acts for which you blamed them are the acts of people. So, the fact that you didn't identify these people is YOUR failure, not mine.

The scientists at Wuhan are the world experts on the regional bat born viruses, especially SARS. They have logged more than 20,000 SARS variants in bats. They know other animals that harbor and transmit SARS (pangolins, etc.) They know the local culture that causes exposure to these animals - pangolin scales for homeopathy, prize as meat, etc. They know the cold chain and cold chain practices. They know the markets and market practices.

They have direct connection with the local and and broader government, thus having better access for encouraging change that could reduce transmission risk or make early detection and provision of information more effective.

Where the heck have YOU been?

You have not provided me any specific goals you share with China. Even when I’ve specifically asked.
LOL. Quote me. Stating the fact a pathogen undergoes re-assortment or recombination or point mutation in a country is not blaming that country or it’s citizens. Is stating the fact the delta variant of SARS-CoV-2 was first identified in India blaming India or Indians?
So you think they are hiding something? Isn’t all that research published? If not, how do you know about it? If it isn’t published or able to be replicated by other researchers what makes you think China will offer it to countries that are “nice” to them?

Please provide evidence any of these groups want any change.
I’ve been here pointing out the misinformation and disinformation ya’ll have been gobbling up from media and “experts”. You mention pangolins. Check this out. Me June 11, 2021.

To be clear. I’m not and never have claimed SARS-CoV-2 was the product of a lab. Just that we were lied to about what information we had and the technology we had/have.

The point here is there is limitless information on pangolin and bat coronaviruses that people like me can access and analyze. You have been told by people like the above journalist and virologist you need China for information. No. It’s all available even if the “experts” lie to you and tell you it isn’t.

The only thing we need from China is honesty and we aren’t going to get it. Never have, never will. We aren’t even getting the truth from our epidemiologists. Obviously they all have you fooled.
