More control is most certainly not an "illusion". Are you claiming that under no possible set of circumstances that we can have greater control than we have today? We can have wider choices of what plans we select, what facilities we use and what doctors we see.

    Partially correct.
I used to be lazy in my healthcare until I was inflicted with a disease the US government refuses to acknowledge. It became a matter of survival to educate and order my Docter to order tests. Then seek treatment after learning how to read those test results for myself.
It’s not easy going against a government beauracracy but sometimes necessary. More government control is not the answer.

Trump has put the nail in the Republican coffin with this.

The Health care plan his executive order creates does not cover Pre Existing conditions.
If you're under 30 most people will get great prices.
For the unlucky few who get major illness you out of Luck.
For 60 % of everyone else the cost of healthcare will skyrocket.

He also ended the subsidies to the ACA. That will affect the poor and elderly.

Trump again moving the wealth from the backs of the poor and elderly to the rich.

That's exactly what it is. The dead giveaway is that it allows employers to pay cash to employees to buy their own insurance. Now, we know exactly where this will go. Just like in the case of pensions, ALL the risk will be shifted away from the employers to the employees. Companies will get out of the obligation to insure their employees, they'll just pay a small cash bonus (probably not enough to really get coverage) and leave the rest to the employee. How convenient -- and money saved by the companies. Money that now the worker will have to come up with.

This is insane and will hurt a lot of people, his fans included, and they still cheer him on.

Trump doesn't know the first thing about healthcare. Selling insurance across state lines has been tried and failed.

    Healthcare won't be less expensive.

He's right.. Premiums will sky rocket and pre-existing conditions won't be covered. Trump is just grandstanding and he knows most Americans are too stupid to question him.

how will premiums skyrocket if you are buying more insurance for less money? Under Obama healthcare premiums skyrocketed and we have less coverage. We try leftist, it doesnt work because sooner or later someone has to pay things.

I'm not a leftist... Obamacare slowed the rise of healthcare costs... Trump has gutted it..

Trump is throwing spaghetti at the wall... pretty much like everything else he does.

please...not a leftist. You spew leftist ideology like a tapped hydrant. Healthcare cost tripled under obama with less coverage. You dodged explaing why buying more healthcare for less money is bad.

"Graham Thompson, executive director of the Georgia Association of Health Plans, an industry group, said Wednesday that the GOP proposals aimed at helping health insurers are "a positive change in tune'' after industry losses suffered under the Affordable Care Act.
A federal law allowing interstate sales across the country "could be different'' from the more limited Georgia experience, Thompson said. "We'll have to see the details.""

Health insurance CEOs rejoice. Shouldn't that give you pause? I thought Trump was for the middle class and not corporations?

Actually, in my opinion (and I've said this before), this is all about Trump wanting to erase anything that has Barack Obama's name attached to it. Nothing more, nothing less. Trump is appealing to his 30% base. There is nothing thoughtful or forward thinking about what he does. Which is sad, startling, and dangerous, all at the same time.

Don't know if you actually read the EO. It does allow for a free and open market in interstate commerce for the offering of healthcare services and health insurance. That may not lower premiums greatly but it does create competition. It also allows small business to form groups similar to large businesses that provide group insurance.

Probably the most significant part of the EO is that insurers will no longer be receiving what now is costing the government $7 billion a year in subsidy bailouts to insurers that had kept Obamacare from completely failing. Insurance companies won't like but it will either create more competition or insurance companies can stop selling insurance. That is their choice in a free market. It also allows them to create different plans based on an individuals needs so now they can get creative and come up with plans that are more affordable without government paying for "free stuff."

This is close to repealing Obamacare and what should have been done on Trumps first day in office. Congress can't get bills passed with or without democrats. This might not bring democrats crawling but it does for the most part undo a bad law that didn't work and never could.

Trump will scrap critical Obamacare subsidy
Scrapping the payments to insurers, which could happen almost immediately, is likely to provide another jolt to Obamacare markets. Good!
