Welcome eh? Apparently in these times, "Hate Speach" is anything that isn't promoted by the US political Left.
Welcome. I also live in "taranna" or the "six" as the youngsters like to call it. retired ex technology marketing executive.
Bluenoser here...... We tackle such subjects from all kinds of angles here: http://www.politicalforum.com/index...e-been-of-another-race-in-a-past-life.512685/
I don't think this is hate speech but you might find my 2006 campaign rather informative. I am from Nova Scotia. www.BankingSystemFlaws.blogspot.ca/
Hi Miketo, much the same here! Like hate itself, hate speech is a spectrum. There's the ambiguous sort of speech that may be hateful, may be merely insensitive, or may come of genuine ignorance -- "Homosexuality is unnatural," the N word, "Islam is dangerous and incompatible with western culture," jokes involving gross generalizations, that sort of thing. There's a lot of that on this site, and a lot of posters on a hair-trigger ready to defend all such speech in the name of free speech. And there is room for good-faith debate. But even without getting into neo-nazi chants and overtly hateful lies like "White people made this country" and "Jews are evil," there are many haters who use more ambiguous speech and legitimate debate as a smokescreen for their messages of hate. Like Stephen Miller's use of the cosmopolitan dog whistle, like the Westboro Baptist refrain of "we don't hate gays, god does," orwellian slogans like "all lives matter," and like a lot of the commentary on this very thread. Especially since Stormfront shut down, we have a lot of posters here who actively undermine our sense of right and wrong, who do everything they can to blur the lines between common sense and their hateful ideology. We all say stupid, hateful things sometimes. The best of us listen to ourselves and others, and learn from our mistakes. The average joe shrugs and says "Well, that's human nature." The hateful among us embrace their mistakes, and do everything they can to infect others with their same hate. Well, didn't mean to go on so long, but there ya go! Hope you enjoy it here.
Welcome, it's never too late to become interested in politics but the sooner the better We cannot afford to be indifferent or apathetic when it comes to the politicians who form the laws that run our lives or before you know it we lose what few freedoms we have that remain. I'm afraid that laws against "hate speech" are too frequently used to silence views that have the stigma of being unpopular at the time of their inception and are fraught with the potential for abuse. Once you start banning some speech, you allow the proverbial "camel's nose into the tent...". Too many have made the ultimate sacrifice to defend our 1st Amendment to surrender free speech to the "chronically offended" for whom anything contrary to their views is "hate speech" Once again, welcome & feel free to speak your mind.
I guess not. Today is October 7 and you haven't been on Board since since August 31! The part is people keep addressing Miketo with uploads. And no doubt the on Board will continue to do so. As well as those at <the horror, the horror>
