Are you claiming I was not born or brought up in one of the boroughs of NYC?

The further removed the politicians are from you, the less they care about you and handling your money responsibly.

I'm a native of NYC. I grew up in the NYC suburbs. I moved to Texas when I was 23.

    I have a master's degree.

I'm no "uneducated rube", but you're a clown.

I don't require them to care about me, personally. I require them to be free from conflicts of interest, and to be accountable and even-handed across the board.

I'd visit for sure, but I'm a west coast kid. I need open spaces. Plus, our cities are newer. Chicago was LA + 100 years. I imagine New York is Chicago + 100 years. The only thing worse would be Europe, as far as moving there.

If I were to go off movies and TV shows, I've always gotten a real scuzzy vibe from images of the place. Usually I seek out the working class element on adventures, but I think New York is the one place I'd stick to the tourist sight seeing and leave.

I couldn't even get into the GTA version of their city.

California is in the same spot as NYC. But the rest of the west is flourishing, with Seattle and Las Vegas becoming niche business centers for tech. And as tech becomes the only way to make money and stay clean for college grads of traditionally blue collar stock, it will be interesting to see if the 20th century's dedication to "mega metropolitan hubs of any and all" will stand the test of the 4th industrial revolution.

The next 50 years might be the last 50 years to see places like NYC, Chicago, and San Francisco as we know them.

Federal taxes effect all states equally, but each State has it's own system of taxation they impose on top of whatever the Fed's collect. Counties and Cities have their own taxes on top of that.

Sorry, cannot stand NYC. It smells. A lot. The density is crazy. The cost is unjustifiable. The internet makes having to ever go there unnecessary.

That's just it. The further they are removed from the voters, the less accountable they are.

I totally agree with you. States as set forth by the U.S. Constitution have the right to make their laws stricter than Federal Law, but may not make their laws less than Federal Law. That tenet trickles right down to local village and town statutes. Therefore, whether it's taxation, or immigration State law must be consistent with Federal regulations. Funny isn't it that is what our Republican Freedom is all about.

Statute law (2) legal definition of statute law (2)
    http://legal-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/statute+law+(2)
Laws in the United States are made by federal, ... United States is a mosaic of statutes, ... is the U.S. Constitution. No state or federal law may contradict ...
This means that when a state or local law conflicts with a federal law, the federal law prevails.

doesn't surprise me, no idea why people would stay to be honest.

I feel the same about Chicago as I do NY, Parents dragged me kicking and screaming out of Chicago 45 years ago, on my recent trip back I texted him and mom and said "thank you very much for getting me out of this god awful place"

Crowded, overpriced, noisy with rude people. The only thing good about Central park as that it had a little less of all that.

to each their own I guess but I prefer to hear the wind moving the trees not cars honking.

Hate? There is no hate like hate from the left. For example, the alleged hate right wingers have for gays is 1% of the hatred the left has for Christians. It's not even close.

You are a rarity. I'm a Christian and the hate on the internet for Christians from left wingers is overwhelming. They mock the "imaginary sky people", etc. They say Christianity is filled with nothing but hate. They're quite animated; their hatred of any religion (especially Christianity) is palpable.

Are you speaking for your elitist self? Personally I've lived the majority of my life in NYC, Brooklyn and Queens. I prefer now to live quiet non aggressive area.

Maybe it's not New York's fault, it's probably democrat policies that's causing it.
