Hi guys. I'm the Nerd of Liberty and I'm new here.

Just a little about myself: I'm 20-years-old and voted in my first ever election last year. I grew up into a family of lifelong Democrats, but ever since the past election, I've been leaning toward Independent.

Also, as my name suggests, I'm a big nerd lol.

Anyway, I hope I can engage in some intelligent conversations about politics here, and maybe get a new perspective on things.

    Cheers!

    Welcome.

As far as engaging in intelligent conversations about politics... a bit of advice. Watch for a couple of weeks while getting an idea for who people are and what they talk about. There's a select group on both sides that parrot out talking points religiously. As long as you can avoid engaging with those folks, the rest of the board is actually pretty nice.

As a lover of Liberty, especially the 2nd, 4th and 10th Amendments of the Bill of Rights,
I ask if you have an opinion regarding :flagcanada: other than the usual laissez faire?

Across an immense, unguarded, ethereal border, Canadians, cool and unsympathetic,
regard our America with envious eyes and slowly and surely draw their plans against us.

    Nerds are welcome!

Now, when someone makes a fantastic, unsupported political statement:
When there is doubt----there is no doubt.

Independent (more technically correctly called "nonpartisan/unaffiliated") is the only right way.

    Good move.

Will do. Thank you for the advice. :)

Is that the Canadian flag (sorry the image is a bit small lol)? If so, I don't really have an opinion on it other than that the country is beautiful (I saw parts of it while on a cruise to Alaska) and your healthcare system is better than ours.

Thank you. And yes it is, especially nowadays. There needs to be an Independents' Party in America.

I think the problem you'd run into with this is that you wouldn't be able to get all of the Independents to agree on a party platform, since independent doesn't really have a focus... it's just people that are tired of the traditional liberal/conservative partisan way of things. Even Libertarians can't agree on what they want to see in a unified party. Would be better to create a moderate faction of liberals/conservatives and have a defined mission plan. Think Tea Party without the bad press.

That's true. But Independents make up the majority of voters nowadays, or is my information wrong?

That depends on whether you go with direct polling data or voter registration to be entirely honest.

When polled, I believe that most people are stating that they're Independents, either because they don't want to be identified, or no longer care. In order to vote in primaries however, you have to be registered as either Dem or Rep.

It really depends on how the data is collected.

Here's a link to an area of discussion to bring you up to date on our seemingly
    "nice" neighbor to the north.
I hope you see the light. No not the light reflecting off the snow & ice.

If you like being "right", you'll see the debates and take your own stand.

The call of the collective is tempting...

How would you recommend allocating 4.3 Trillion USA Petro - Dollars to avoid devaluation / inflation?

I gave a few suggestions here and post #19 verifies the number:
